Well, that's it, no more warranty for me!

I don't know if it's official or just from their dealership, but the Service Manager from John Hine Pontiac just called me and told me that the District Service Manager had come down and looked at my Vibe and, from what he said, "voided your warranty for lack of a better term"! He said there was no charge but they would not be working on my Vibe unless I wanted to pay them their outrageous like $85/hr to open it up and find the problem. But even then, he (along with other dealerships) told me, "our mechanics are expecrts on these vehicles, but when you modify them from factory specs they don't know how to work on them or how the modifications effect the car". Basically he just said come get your car and don't expect to get it fixed here again! I guess I am going to try to take it somewhere and see if I can find the problem and what it would cost to get it fixed. They blamed everything from my aftermarket battery to my stereo and air bags, along with the fact they can tell I had a supercharger on it. I assure you once I get it fixed and the source of the problem is identified December's VOTM will be back in full force!

Are they voiding all of the bumper to bumper warranty or just the parts affected by the mods?

District managers have that authority but... outlandish $85 an hour? Thats a pretty normal shop rate right there. I actually work with $90 an hour here at Subaru and when I worked for GM it was $87 an hour.

As for a local mechanic, I've never needed one b/c I have had new cars for so long they have always been fixed under warranty. Andre suggested someone but he is a little far. I'm going to call anyways and see what they say. Problem is I wanted to buy a '91 Chevy Dually 454 SS from my bro-in-law for $3k, so every penny counts!

Can you roll it down to TJ? You might be able to find a good deal down there on an engine replacement.

wow, that really sucks. they can'tjust deny your entire car of warranty for engine mods. the gm supercharger should also not void your warranty. that dealer seems fishy.get a crate celica gts engine. i mean, since you are getting another engine.

That's the condition required to keep the warranty coverage with the supercharger, I believe.I'd say they're well within their rights to void the warranty as well, just like a computer company can void your warranty if you open something up that you shouldn't or if the problem is caused by something extra you put on it.

As of this moment, the warranty hasn't been blocked. I just checked. However, I don't know how you're going to get around the evidence of mods to get anything done under warranty. Sorry, don't know if I'm being helpful or not, just wanted to let you know.

I would have to spend waayyy to much time and $$$ to try to get it to where they couldn't tell it was tampered with for them to POSSIBLY warranty it that it's probably better just to try to find someone to fix it for a decent price, and if possible, if it can be proven it wasn't the mods that caused the failure, take that write-up to the dealership and try my best to get them to reimburse me since they refused to find the problem as it is. I don't know that that will work, but I figure it's worth a try!

When permanently installed after the delivery of your vehicle you are covered by the balance of the New-Vehicle Limited Warranty, but no less than 12 months or 12,000 miles - whichever occurs first (parts and labor). For all you DIY-ers who want to install it on your own, the limited warranty is 12 months (parts only)..gm won't simply void your warranty for doing the job yourself. you still get 1 yr parts only warranty for the charger. it doesn't mention anything on voiding the new vehicle warranty.
http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/pe...98927so, how many miles on the vibe since the charger?

It doesn't mention the new vehicle warranty at all in relation to DIYers, whereas it does in relation to the other two, which could perhaps be taken as an indication that the new vehicle warranty (on the engine at least) goes out the window when this is installed anywhere other than the dealership. They want to sell superchargers so they probably aren't going to put that explicitly on the site.

When I asked GM Perfomance Parts about the bumper to bumper warranty effects, they told me to contact GM. GM basically told me it voided the btb warranty!
