Vibe + Snow = Guardrail (minor damage)

Well yesterday we had quite a snowstorm and I was driving along rte 11 here in Shenandoah country Va. I was driving up to Front Royal VA to look at a 3 wheeler I had aspirations of purchasing. I was going around a slight turn and there was someone going like 35 in the slow lane, so i got over to pass going about 50 and the road turned to slush and I saw the guardrail coming and I eased on my brakes and nothing happened so I turned my wheel as far as it would go the opposite direction and my car began to turn its front side away from the rail. I went off the road and my back end smacked the guardrail. and my tire was pinned against the asphault and tore a huge chunk out of it. So just some cosmetic damage and my tire but I have to put back on my stock tires because i think the tire is losing air. I'm just thankful that no one was hurt and the car was not damaged too badly, it could have been much worse.BTW thats not the damaged tire

First I would like to say glad your ok and it was only superficial..Second I would like to say I'm glad our Vibe is all plastic on the side so I don't have to worry about repainting the panels after a hit like that..Third those are some nice rims.. but don't you think you would loose traction when it snows.. and maybe get into an accident??nice rims though..

Glad you're okay and nobody followed you into the rail.however, it doesn't look like you're wearing snow friendly shoes there... looks like three season sneakers there.

Glad you were not hurt, good driving!May want to check the rear alignment though. The damage is not bad, you could almost get the parts painted and install them in your driveway!

Yea I realize after the fact that I should have changed tires before winter but I'll put the stock ones back on and then I'll have new rubber by summer.I feel kinda dumb

we just finished getting pounded by 2 feet of snow. i didn't even bother to take the vibe out. i wanted to go and have some fun, but..my vibe is also wearing summer tires and rims. the stocks are sitting in the garage. sorry to hear about your accident. insurance should take care of that right away.

Nah, I'm taking the brunt of this one, insurance will skyrocket if I report it. The state trooper told me he couldn't even write a report because the damage was so small and I should pay for it myself. And I really don't have enough money to put snow tires on the Vibe, we dont get that much snow around here anyway. I just put the stock tires back on and it's like driving a different car... You dont feel bumps!

If your insurance goes up because of one accident, you need to find a new insurance company.
