This might be an obvious question but is the Matrix Oil filter the same as a Vibe??I'm tired of paying $16 for a filter from a GM dealer.. occasionally its on sale for $11.. but if it costs $4 from Toyota why bother..does anyone know if the base Vibe and base Matrix oil filter is the same and if so how much it costs??ThanksMartin

Same engine, same oil filter.Got a Valvoline Max Life at Canadian Tire, No VF4967. Says on the box: "Engineered by Purolator" but the funny thing is the number is the same as a Fram...I wanted to change the original oil filter but was unable to take it off!It is on sale this week for 5.99 $ At Crappy Tire! Yah the first oil filter was tight to get off.. but after that it was a breeze.. just darn expensive... how much for an (Toyota) oil filter??

A/C Delco PF1233 is $2.99 @ local Advance Auto Parts.

To learn more about oil filters and who makes what brand look here http://theoildrop.server101.co...02456 . I use Wally World Supertech or GM AC1233 $2-3 and whatever oil is on sale. I work in a oil analysis lab.

Do you know if Valvoline Max life is truly Purolator or is it Fram? I'm sure every filter sold at Crappy Tire (with exception of K&N) is FRAM crap..

canadian tire brand ...i think it's all 7's or something weird like that.....not too expensive, can't remember right now.they don't have the vibe listed in any of their reference books but they have the matrix listed.same for air filter...only fram available. they don't make a canadian tire brand.

Purolator makes both the Valvoline Max Life and Advanced Auto Totalgrip filters. They both use Fram's numbering system, but rest assured are made by Purolator. These are effectively Purolator Premium Plus filters, but with about 20% less filtration media (which are still great for 3k OCI's). BTW: I picked up a bunch of the AA filters last month on sale for $1.34. When I got home, I checked the baseplate of this filter to a Purolator Pure One filter I had and the numbers stamped into it are exactly the same.

Are AA available in Canada ? and where did you get them?? $1.34 is a great price!

I also use the Walmart Supertech filter. I buy them when I'm in the USA for $2.49 I think.

That's when I load up on them for my truck (I use the Toyota OEM F1 and Pure One PL14477 on my Vibe).A good alternative would be what Sunny suggests: Walmart SuperTech filters. The new one's are E-Core, which seem to be okay from what I've read (especially for 5,000 kilometer OCI's). Another Walmart filter that might still be available is the Motorcraft one, but they're fazing those out in the U.S. (too bad, that was a good filter too). It's pretty much turning into the "Wall of Fram" at most Wallyworlds.BTW: How much do you pay in Canadian for the Toyota OEM F2 filter from your dealer? I usually buy them from car dealers on Ebay for about US$40/case (10), which includes free shipping. Might be an option for ya'...

Wal-Mart's in Canada don't (and never have) carry the SuperTech or Motorcraft brands - only Fram crap.I get the Toyota filters for $6.95 each (Canadian) - works out to $8 a pop after taxes.

Sounds good! guess thats what I will have to do.. unless I see some AC Delco somewhere under that price
