Looking for a suitable clutch upgrade for the Vibe GT

Hello all, I have been reading on the site for a while and decided to join. I am a honda guy myself, but my wife has an 03 GT so I try to keep up on her car as well. Anyway, her clutch has gone to **** over the last 1K miles or so (she is at 35K) and the dealer wants 1400 to replace it. There is no way in hell after reading up on your site that I am going to pay that much money to have an OEM piece of **** clutch put back in there. So, what would you guys recommend for an upgraded clutch for a female driver and a vibe with no mods? I was looking at ACT HD and the RPS clutches, and would like some opinions. She doesnt really beat on the car (I do that for her when I drive it). Pedal feel is of utmost importance here as well. I have an ACT XTSS on my civic and she cant stand the pedal pressure, so I would be looking for a clutch that has close to stock feel, but will last longer than the GM unit. Thanks in advance for your help. I have fun coming to this site and reading about something other than hondas

http://stores.ebay.com/gripforce-comI bought My Girl friends Clutch from gripforce on ebay for $120.00.(presure plate clutch and throw out bearing) He only has one listed now with a flywheel. But if you contact him I bet he will get one up for you.She didnt like my ACT, it's to Violent for her.But hers isn't bad, it release's about half down so it has lot's of pedal.when I had her flywheel re-ground I had them cut an extra .010 off the mounting surface of the flywheel. But after about 100 miles, I was Shifting hard in to 3rd gear I blew the back of the tranny out.So if you go that way give it lots and lots of break in time.I kind of Wish I would have went with the Exedy in my car instead of the ACT. because of price.

I went to a local clutch place and got a 6-puck ceramic. It doesn't slip at ALL so it might not be great for her, but once you get used to it (takes a week or three) it's not bad, and less chance of it dying again.I put in a stock replacement clutch from Advance Auto Parts and it went out in a year, about 8k. We'll see what the new one does.Got it from a local place with the whole clutch kit for $240. They resurfaced the flywheel as part of the price.Local shop did the work for $528.

Quote:"I put in a stock replacement clutch from Advance Auto Parts and it went out in a year, about 8k."That is exactly what I am trying to avoid. From what I have been reading the RPS sport series appears to have less bite and more OEM type pedal feel than the ACT setup. Anyone have opinions about the RPS line?

Go with the gripforce (or Exedy Stage 2) if you want a good combo of cost + durability + slightly harder grip. The guys at MO.com and newcelica.org have been using them for a while with good results.$139 + s&h: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...53719It looks like they're only selling the Exedy OE packaged with a Fidanza Flywheel.
