thanks for the help dude......but I know all that stuff...my problem is I get it all hooked up...my sony harness to aftermarket harness...then plug in..there is no sound.....when you look at the harness from the vibe..it has more wires going into it than the harness from the radio does......and the amp is not getting power and I was wondering who has ran into this problem..I got a tech at work thinking I should bypass amp or go with another.

It looks like you didnt use the remote power turn on lead from the original head unit. I believe it is a white wire that is hooked up to the original head by a different harness. The adapter harness does not account for this wire. You need to splice into your remote turn on wire coming out of your new sony unit (usually blue). This sends a small signal to the amp to say "hey, I am on, you should turn on now too". This is so the amp is not always on and draining power when the head unit isnt on. Hope this helped.

Also since your sony is putting out a little more power than the stock headunit, it may be too much for the high level inputs on the stock amp. If you are hearing a lot of distortion, this is prob why. Most aftermarket amps that have high level inputs would be able to handle this (since your sony is really only pushing 15-20 watts RMS), but I have no idea about this little stock amp. It should prob be fine, just wanted to give you a heads up!

Hey sorry i've been slacking... I got my radio installed at Best Buy, but I watched the whole thing. The seperate wire in the smaller harness was disregarded in the installation. When the wiring was done, the guy added this white inline cylinders which resist the output of the receiver. I have the moons and tunes and the factory amp has caused a problem. The signal is too ampified, i get alot of distortion when I raise the volume to 50%. The tweeters start poping and the speakers crackle. I should warn you, i blew out all the speakers excluding the tweeters and front passenger door speaker. I am still looking for a better way to set up my system, probably by bypassing the factory amp.If you connected the radio to the harness without any inline resistors, you might burned out the factory amp and thats why your not getting any sound. Try puttin in the old radio and see if the amp still works. If you find a way to bypass the amp without having to rewire the speakers let me know... If you get it to run, theres a very good chance your gonna blow out the factory speakers. I already had to get replacements from the dealer. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Have you try to use the pre-amp output (usually RCA) instead of the powered output from your head unit? Pushing 50w in an amp. is not realy good. Try by hooking the amp input to the RCA pre-amp output of your head unit. 50W at 4 ohm means 12.5V in the amp input. Most of aftermarket head unit have a pre-amp output between 3V and 5V. Using the pre-amp output should resolve your problems.
