DVD NAV one more time

Emailed GM parts direct and the part#88973742 turns out to be the same as what I have(2002 disc)...After Ebaying bought a GEN3 Toyota DVD which will not read...My dealer is no help but has told me this system is definitely Toyota not GM-GM disc will not read as I have tried several. Not that this is a huge deal but many roads in Atlanta have changed as well as other major roads in the southeast. Any idea about a DVD that might work from Toyota or Lexus that is dated after 2002??? I have also discovered that I can make a backup copy of the original to a dual layer DVD and it will read but boy the player doesn't like it...searches and makes all kinds of noise before finally performing.

MMM, the DVD for my unit has Denso on it and looks similiar to other Toyota NAV disks and nothing like the GM disc...isn't Denso the OEM for Toyota/Lexus?

It's always been my understanding that the NAV unit is a Delphi product; it has the same connectors and same pinouts on the back of the unit as the stock Delphi 1CD and 6CD in-dash units. Far as I know, Toyota doesn't source any Class-II head units.I think your disk might be the latest & greatest. The only other number I've seen is 88973143, which was posted as the "latest & greatest" in August 2003. However, I cannot find it on GM parts sites, and your part # is higher, so it might be newer. I think you're gonna have to beat it out of GM if you want a final answer.sorry & good luck.

did you buy the NAV after your vibe or did it come with? sometimes the laser needs to be cleaned or tweaked.

But it isn't a oem unit then. the vibe oem is delphi. you can find it at the delphi website.did you buy it new? or used? i'll bet it's used and someone did a nav switch. better yet. let us see a pic of where you see denso at.

Bought the car brand new however they had to search and search to find one with a NAV...The Vibe owners manual looks like the unit I have..I've attached a scan of the DVD look at the left hand side and you can see Denso as well as the Denso part#'s...Looks like the Disc I bought of ebay was a Gen4 which will only work in new Lexus and Toyotas. Thanks for the help.

The dealer has stepped up to the plate and informed me that the Pontiac Rep is at his dealership tomorrow...I'm promised some answers. My car has the U1A part number stamped on the parts list inside the glove box as well as on the sticker and my NAV unit looks like all in brochures etc...maybe I have one of those special GM test cars...been there and done it before(not willingly believe me)...love my VIBE just want some answers...Maybe it's Delphi or as I remember AC/Delco or AC/Crapo but whatever I have works great just want the road info updated!!!! FYI I have specs of the U1A unit in the car from the dealer if anyone would like.

https://www.gmnavdisc.comIt's supposed to be THE Source for GM Nav disks now. You have to put in your VIN to see what the latest and greatest update is.Good luck!!

This is probably one of the reasons they stopped supplying the NAV system in the Vibe, they never wanted to update the maps!

I don't think ANYONE updates their maps very often! When I was playing with my Garmin laptop based USB-GPS the other day, it showed the dealership beside the Pontiac dealer I bought my new Vibe from as Heritage Cadillac.....which closed almost 10 years ago.....it's been a Harley dealership for at least 5 years now!!On the trip to WV, there were times that I went 'off-route' because the road construction was finished.....3 years before!!

Garmin releases map updates, I believe, on a bi-yearly basis, as NAVTEQ releases their maps. Unfortunately this may not be a free update.
