I am having a problem with the drivers side lamp , it keeps burning up the plug at the bulb. stock bulbs do this as well. i have tried lower wattage and still doing it. cant figure that out. The passenger lamp doesnt do it with the hgher wattage or stock. Any ideas. This will be the 4th one it has burned and it only takes about a week before it is completley crispy. The dealer is blaming me now, saying that I am swapping bulbs. I just used 2 sets of sylvania 9006 regular bulbs, not blue or nothing and it did the same thing. they were 45W, the ones i had were 65w and they did it too on the same light, nothing has happened on the pasengers one, it is perfect.

can you take a multimeter to see if its the correct voltage going to the bulb plug? do you park outside? maybe some animal chewed the wired and its shorted somewhere.

so when you say it burns up, do you mean that the lamp socket burns? Have they replaced the actual lamp socket and connectors? Usually when an electrical thing that isn't supposed to get hot does get hot, it is because there is resistance, often caused by corrosion. Is it possible that the connector is corroded, but they don't replace it? Got any pics?

if your dealer keeps blaming you, tell them to prove it. otherwise fix the dang problem. it really seems like a short somehere. changing bulbs shoulnd't do it. touching the bulb could burst it, but to keep on doing it... that's another issue.

The manual calls for a 9006 lamp. That said I'd look for a bad ground someplace. These can be tough to find if its not something obvious like a partly broken wire. Do a resistance check . The lamp wattage shouldnt matter since the fuse should protect it from over current. You have a partly cut wire or ground someplace.

I agree with all that has been said, my money is on a short somewhere.
