Is anyone using Castrol 0-30 in their vibe ? Did you notice a change in MPG? Did it increase, Decrease or remain the same ? Did you keep records of your fuel or is it just a guess ?Thanks,Chris

I'm running castrol's 5W-30, since the first oil change. I figure without any other input or knowledge, I'm better off using the oil weight recommended by the manufacturer. Here in Maryland, the climate is pretty moderate. For you in TX though, you might think about if the 0W oil will be thick enough in the summer.

I'm wanting to know if this oil will reduce my fuel mpg. The posts from BITOG seem to say it does. Was wondering specifically for the Vibe. The 0-30 really works out to be a 40 by US standards. 0w-30 also known as German Castrol.

I would think 0W-30 would give a slight increase in mpg since it would require less energy to pump throughout the engine, however as already mentioned, the Vibe manual recommends 5W-30 for a really wide range of temps.

I *think* my mpg was impacted BUT it is very hard to be sure as you know there are many factors affecting gas mileage. However the oil analysis of this oil was more favourable ie showed better protection than the one I had done for the M1 5W-30.
