Slamming of the doors...

I live in a family of big cars. Parents have an Expedition; brother has a F-350; other brother has an Explorer. Me, I of course, have a Vibe (I'm the one commuting 150 miles a day)...So, tell me if this happens to you: everytime one of them gets out of my Vibe, they get a running start to close the door. They slam the doors so hard, the car rocks... I'm waiting for the glass to do that cartoon shatter... you know, where it starts as a thread, spiderwebs thruout the glass, then there's that pause right before it all falls out. I just don't understand why people feel the need to slam these doors. They close just fine with a gentle push... like a spring breeze.Anyways, just driving me crazy....hjwii

I know how you feel. They are use to big heavy doors on the large vehicles. I have done it a couple times myself by accident.

I hate door slammers and warn them every time one climbs in my car. "Don't slam the door!" haven't had to worry about them now though since they are back in Ontario and I'm not. Some people just don't think about these things.

when people do that when they get out of my vibe I look over the top of the car at them and go "HEY, the door effort on my Vibe isn't as bad as your car."

I really hate that too. I don't have the problem with my friends that drive trucks, but with my friends who drive POS beater cars. They're so used to requiring the slamming of their rust ridden, dent decorated doors, in order to get it to latch properly.Another thing I hate are the people who slam my hood. I prefer to set on the latch then give it a little push compression to close.

I really like how the doors close ont he vibe. If I close them too gently and they only half latch, a gentle push and the latch all the way. I've had those POS beater cars. one of the reasons I like a four door car is that the 2 door cars always seem to have big heavy doors that start to sag and not close right after a couple of years Quote, originally posted by Mase »Another thing I hate are the people who slam my hood. I have friends when I'm in SC who don't even want me to drive because they slam the doors EVERY TIME! and I always say the same thing. Softly, I say "you don't have to slam the door" So in a day I've said it to them like 10 times!!! yet they still don't get it. So annoying especially since I did the hitting the inside of the door with the bottom of my fist when they were backing up, making them think they hit something. Didn't hit it hard, just loud enough to thump yet they get all *****y to me saying something like "Don't do that, we may have to trade this in some day and we don't need the added damage". UGH! I've never seen a car get any damage from that little joke, yet I have heard of some windows and/or motors coming loose when a door was slammed (a long time ago though). Love double standards.Dave

My Father would get pissed at my sister and I if we did that. Got even more angry if we closed the door with our fingers on the window and left finger prints. No need to slam car doors shut on a modern car. The charlie horse is a good idea.

I now drop my hood also from about a foot.

This one really irks me!!! My mom slams my doors on the Vibe more often than not. It really pisses me off. Everytime she does it I just wanna turn to her and say Hey we are not in your Camry!!! My sister, when I see her, does it too the first time or two then remembers that it doesn't take that much. She also drives a Camry. How ironic......
