it seems you can't say much about the production plans for the vibe. is it something to do with you working at munni?

Does this mean the end of the 1ZZFE 1.8L engine in all Vibe/Matrix/Corolla vehicles? Or is the engine mentioned (Camry's 2.4L) in the post going to be the new, high-performance option for these cars? BTW: From the drawings of the new Matrix, it looks larger and longer. In fact, it reminds me of a late 90's Legacy wagon from the front 3/4 angle. Why is it that every manufacturer feels the need to lengthen the wheel base everytime there is a new redesign? The only car that I've seen from Japan that has bucked that trend, at least from a visual standpoint, is the new Civic.

The new Rav4 is so far from the original concept that they should have just brought out a newly named vehicle.

The first link above . . .----------------------------------------------------***Breaking News*** 2007 major model change. - 2.4L (2AZ-FE) 2.4 Litre 4-Cylinder 16-Valve 2AZ-FE specs VVT-i Sequential Multiport Electronic Fuel Injection Balance Shafts Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle [ULEV] Compression Ratio - 9.6:1 Horsepower (kW) - 157 (119) @ 5700 rpm Torque (N.m) - 163 lb.ft. (221) @ 4000 rpm - available all wheel drive (new one) 5 speed tranny - solid hatch door (no more separate opening glass) - XRS will be discontinued These are confirmed for the major model change in 2007 either for the 2007 model or early release 2008 depending on how the new Woodstock plant launch goes. ---------------------------------------------------------. . . but the other link said this redesign was for 2008, and the photo was said to be the exisiting Japan-market "Corolla Fielder, a tall wagon." Question - is the planned Woodstock, Ontario plant replacing the present mfg site of the Matrix?

It's almost the same size as a Highlander now. I suppose in a few years, Toyota will introduce a new "compact" crossover/small SUV and we'll start this whole cycle over again.

So here are some of the scheduled major changes for Vibe MY '07:*AWD - discontinued*GT - discontinued*2ZZ-GE engine - discontinued*overall Vibe production decreased approximately 25%*one of the reds discontinued and replaced with blue - not sure which red but looks like possibly Lava. also, not sure which blue will replace it, but it is one of the blues on the current Tacoma. *Vibe MY '07 production scheduled to start last week of July.

This car must have been a thorn in GM's side from the beginning, seeing how they have constantly neglected this vehicle in practically every imaginable area - and god yes, the worst includes service! Many of us know that all too well..It wouldn't surprise me if we see a new Matrix in a couple of years and find no Vibe to go along with it. Sad to think about the car going away...On the plus side though, if this is the blue I'm thinking of, that is pretty fricken hot! I dig that color.

If they discontinue the production of the 2zz I wonder what Lotus is going to use for the elise?

A Vibe with the Cobalt ss supercharged engine might be nice.

I bet the reason they're discontinuing the GT is because the CLUTCHES SUCK. GM may have finally realized that drivetrain doesn't belong in the car.

Interesting news especially since the Dodge Caliber is out and in AWD. The Caliber SRT version will follow shortly too. GM will only have the base to compete with this vehicle in terms of versatility, price, fuel mileage and utility. On a side note, most Vibes around here are Base...Does not surprise me the GT will be discontinued. The AWD does a little...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they make the 2zz-FE elsewhere? (Although they canceled the Celica GT-S, so if the GT's going too...)

Nice color...naturally just the bright blue my friend wanted right after she bought a new car (and not a Vibe).
