Does anyone have the AEM short ram intake for their Vibe GT?

If so, how do you like it? I'm a bit afraid of hydrolocking my car with the long tube air intake as it happened with an AEM cold air intake on my old '93 Honda Del Sol Si. Anyway, does the short ram intake provide good sound and any noticeable power gains?

How deep was the water you drove through in your old car?

I actually sold the car to my ex-girlfriend at the time and warned her of the potential problem with high water. Obviously, she didn't listen. I think she hit a pothole which submerged the intake enough to ingest water into the engine.

This will let you keep the advantages of a CAI, and keep your engine "water" protected.

Any link to any information on this bypass valve? Coincidentally, I ordered the full AEM CAI today, so I would like to protect the car from hydrolock.

Key thing to not getting hydrolock is knowing where you are driving and it's a Vibe, not a submarine.

I have the AEM on my Vibe GT and it is AWESOME.The sound you get when you hit lift is unreal...and the power gain is quite noticable. Mine had a big asss sticker on it though...you can see pics at
http://www.mitro.net and click on the Vibe Vault. Here is the thread about my CAI...

I think the Vibe is too high off the ground to be effected by any potholes filled with water...i mean, you'd have to drive through a lake to really be effected, don't you think? There is plenty of ground clearence

Thanks for all the info. I got it for $217 shipped, so I think I got a decent deal. The AEM worked wonders on my SOHC VTEC Del Sol. I then had an Iceman on my DOHC VTEC Prelude and that worked even better, finally the cold air intake on my Corvette really woke up the big V8. I'm excited about getting the intake put on, I loved the sound it made when I hit VTEC on the Prelude, I'm sure the sound is going to be similar and the power gain noticeable on my Vibe GT when I hit the high lift cam.

I was thinking about getting a short arm in my Vibe too, but I didn't know. Because they are soooooooo cheap. Dose anyone know how many horses I will get from a short arm?

You won't get as many horses with a base model and the short ram. It will be worth a few horsies as long as you don't heat soak too bad (i.e. hot day, hot under hood, no air circulation). The sound will be worth the price of admission though!!

Big Will, I have the AEM short Ram and I noticed a big power increase along with excellent sound, especially when lift hits. I work in Trenton if you ever want to see it and hear it.

This will let you keep the advantages of a CAI, and keep your engine "water" protected.I called AEM about this bypass valve and the current design of the intake for the Vibe/Matix is not designed to accomadate a bypass valve. According to what the technician told me, it is almost impossible to get hydrolock with this intake unless you completely submerge the filter, which in the Vibe would mean you would have to practically drive into a lake. A mist or a couple drops of water aren't going to hurt the motor or intake at all. At least that is what I was told from AEM.
