Hello all,, first off thank you all for all the great information I have acquired over the past few weeks of reading, some really interesting and well thought out ideas to improving on an already great car.My issue today,, I've looked throughly through the archives and haven't been able to address this issue I am having,, from all the information I've acquired the lights are to flash once when locking from the keyless and twice when unlocking,, I have no issues with unlocking works as intended however when locking from the keyless receiver I get NO single light flash - doors lock fine but that's it - the Dealer hasn't been able to give me the directions to reset it back to base setup as it was intended..Any ideas out there ??Thanks for your help !!!Regards,Brian'06 AWD Moon/Tune/Pwr/Moonstone - 5K

haven't tried this on the vibe, but all of my other vehicles had the instruction on how to do this on the back side of the fob. "press and hold both lock and unlock to turn on visual confirmation and audio confirmation" since the vibe doesn't offer audio confirmation, i'm guessing that the other option would be to turn off visual. try this.

are you sure the doors are locking? if a door or the hatch glass are open, the lights won't flash and the car won't lock.

I'm very sure,,, one 'unlock' click unlocks driver door with two flashes, two 'unlock' clicks does all 4 doors and hatch with two flashes,,, one 'lock' click does all doors and hatch no lights,, 'Hatch' click only opens glass hatch when all doors unlocked,,

If a door is open, the lights won't flash, though the locks will still lock. I guess make sure the door-open indicator on your dash isn't on with the doors closed, and then make sure that it does come on when you open one.

Door indicator works as designed on with anything open, off when all closed,, door module issue good idea - but seems to be ok,, Thanks

The fact that it only flashes on unlock is very curious, because this is normal behavior with a door open.My only other thought would be that it is a problem with the Multi Function Alarm Module, which receives the state of the door switches, gets the sigtnal from the keyless entry receiver, and flashes the lights. The rear doors, and hatch/ tailgate all tie together and go into the MFAM, but also directly light the dash indicator. The passenger door is separate and goes into the MFAM but also directly lights the door open indicator through a separate wire. (The drivers door only goes to the MFAM).So, it could be possible that either the passenger door, or rear doors/tailgate/hatch are correctly lighting the dash icon, but the MFAM isn't seeing that they are closed. This could either be a problem in the wiring to the MFAM (or wiring connector) or MFAM itself. See pic below. Try having the dealer replace the MFAM, and check the wiring at the same time.Good luck!

Thanks for the insight,, I've confirmed in the American Manual online that there is actually 2 problems - lights do not flash upon keyless lock, and that if one door / hatch whatever is left open the doors still lock from the keyless even thought the vehcle is open,, oh well off to the Dealer to diag and fix,,Cheers,Brian'06 AWD

this happened to me once and i was stumped for a bit....it turned out to be the rear hatch (not the glass but the whole rear door). It wasn't closed properly, the 'door open' symbol on the dash wasn't lit and the interior lights didn't stay on, but the hatch just wasn't shut hard enough! I gave it a good slam and then the car locked with the single light flash.since then, i have had the same thing happen once or twice and now i know how to fix it...i've also (on 2 occasions now) been driving at night and everything would indicate all doors (including hatch) were shut fine, but when i hit a bump in the road the interior lights would turn on briefly. it was like having lightening in the car! i think the sensor that detects the status of the rear hatch OR the actual hatch itself is not latching unless it is slammed a little harder is the problem.doesn't happen too often (maybe 6 times in 19 months?) so i'm not concerned.give your rear hatch a good slam (and i mean a 'good slam') and go from there.

Thanks for the idea - no dice,,,If it weren't closing properly I would think the dash light should be on and the doors should NOT lock,, I have no dash light on and the doors lock regardless if any door is open,, I'm guessing this is the Module - I ran the flow chart from SI2000 and all signs are pointing to that - Thursday next week will be the answer I have an appointment - I hope,,, Cheers HNY

This is normal.

I know - but they are actually locking with any of the 5 doors open or the hatch glass.. which should not be occurring Correct ?

I have somewhat the same issue. On saturday my lights wouldn't flash during keyless lock. But would during unlock. I tried it a few times. Then it stopped responding all together. I checked my fuse under the hood and it had popped. So I replaced it and the lightsflash normally now. But a worse thing has happened now. My dome lights stay on very dim. They never shut off unless you turn the switch to off. If you set it to the white line they stay on dim. The never fade up or down with the keyless. Opening a door does nothing either. They are just stuck on permanently.Would my problem be resolved with the same part replacement?

If not, and diagnostic fee isn't too much, might be worthwhile having them trouble-shoot it.

It's still under warranty. It's only 7 months old. Am I going to have problems with them trying to void my warranty because I have installed audio/visual equipment? Do you have the part # for the MFAM unit?

Do you have the part # for the MFAM unit?My understanding is that they must prove that the aftermarket additions caused the damage. Can anyone back me up on that?Unless you have something unusual, I would not expect that any of your AV equipment would connect to the MFAM.I have the part number somewhere.....looking.....EDIT MFAM is 88973138

Just an update,, I had the vehicle at the Dealer today had the Module replaced and still the same problem,, so I gave the tech the idea of the rear hatch latch, check out the diode and rear hatch and still nothing,, all connections are good tight and clean nothing out of the ordinary,, After reviewing the Vibe Repair manual it is very limited to what it tells the technician,, so he was stumped.. also called Technical Assistance and they were really no help either,,So it was left that the Dealer would keep investigating the situation and I will be going back in next week for possible other avenues to look at,,,So currently everything works fine all doors and hatch activate dash light and all recognized and working and the unlock from the FOB flashes the lights twice there's just no flash during locking,,Any other ideas or thoughts are appreciated,,CheersB -'06AWD

Sorry to hear you're still having the problem. As mentioned before, I still think there is a possibility of a problem in wiring harness (wiring to connectors) of the MFAM. As I noted in my previous post, you could cut the door-open signal wire from the rear doors/hatch to the MFAM and everything would still work except the MFAM wouldn't ever see the doors as all closed. this would cause what you are seeing.I'd have the technician make sure the MFAM connector harness is seeing proper voltages with rear doors open and closed on that pin.Good luck.

Last attempt,,Voltages at lock position from connector to MFAM was RF- 1.45V //LF- .9V, so he's suggesting the LF Dr Latch (removed) because it was lower and he didn't know what the specs were,, not sure why he didn't try all of them to have a better snapshot maybe did but wasn't documented ??Thoughts ?TXB- '06AWD

I think I may have known this for a while but just never thought about it,,, so I'm driving to ON from BC (great ride-perfect car) and I close the rear door for some reason at a stop and I hear a rattle from a bolt or something,,,Well I forgot about this but when it was brand new (5 month ago) the R/R door got scratched - well the dealer pulled it all apart and repainted. So this got me thinking, so I started checking things - hey why is there more air coming through the door handle at hwy speeds,,, and duh it all made sense,,,I pulled the R/R panel off sure enough the poor reinstallation left half the weather barrier off and guess what surprise surprise the connector into the lock assembly was smashed,, just poor reinstallation... everything worked and all pins were touching except for the one that makes the lights flash on lock,, clean connector repositioned, and resealed door properly,,, voila - 100% LIGHTS FLASH once on lock !!!So for reference purposes only - this was not a Vibe failure it was dealer error,,, and funny enough they couldn't figure out their own mistake,,Thanks for the input,,Cheers,,B -'06AWDPS MPG 27.2 across Canada in Winter in AWD
