I just found out my sunvisor slides along the support post.

I've had my Vibe for 6 months and just discovered that the driver's side visor slides sideways along the support rod. Yanno, you unhook it and then you can move the visor along the length of the support rod. it has a stop on it so you can't side it all the way off.

i didn't know that myself until someone pointed it out here once upon a time, a few months after i'd purchased my own vibe. useful stuff.

Owned 4 Vibes and I just learned on the fourm that the sun visors slide. Too cool! Way more useful than a simple extender, you can put the visor wherever you need to block the sun and still have a nice small visor.

I think that was a new feature on the 2005 models and newer. My 2003 doesn't have that feature.

Yep, it was a 2005+ thing. And IIRC they started covering those in fabric instead of the vinyl that year.

Mine is a '04 GT and has the fuzzy fabric with sliders. You have to pull a little hard the first time to make them slide. Don't know if it was part of the premium or power package maybe?

my 06 has em I think it has something to do with the side impact air bags. If you have the side curtain air bags you didn't get the sliding sunvisors

I have an '04 Vibe GT with moons and tunes and power package and side impact air bags and I HAVE this option. It's also covered in cloth. I don't know what the criteria was for an extending visor - luck of the draw?

Damn, I keep forgetting to pull on them to see if they slide or not. I suggest that those who have not been able to 'slide' their sun visors out, should go try again, and pull a bit harder. Don't rip the thing off, but give it a good tug. If you don't have that capability, then go to a car parts recycling place and get them to search for some. Should be an easy find and install!!!!! As most of us know, many 05-08 Vibes live in recycle limbo.

Count me among the many who are thrilled and amazed at this information! There were days gone by that both my wife and I wished our 07 had an extended visor and just chalked it up to buying a "cheap" car so that's what we get.I guess few of us actually look in or bother to read the owners manual when we get a new car?? (you know, if all else fails, read directions)Now I get to look "smart" and show my wife what her car can do on the next sunny road trip! Dave

(you know, if all else fails, read directions)I usually read through the manual and review the info that's new to me for a given vehicle. I bet I just skipped the section on the sun visors as I figured I surely know how those things work since I've used them for years and the technology has been around for a for a while. Here's the quote right out of the 2008 manual:"The visors can be slid along the rod for extended coverage for the side windows unless your vehicle has roof-mounted side impact airbags."PlatinumVibe08

I've swapped the visors out from an 07 to my 03 so I can join your exclusivity!

Thanks! Got it off eBay for about $30. I just love these visors, just like in my work truck.I always used to try to pull them out because I'm used to doing it on the truck, and now I can!
