A heads up for cheapskates - mobile phone

For the past few weeks at Staples they have a STimobile Samsung A660 phone for $99.99 less $100 rebate. STimobile is one of those pay as you go. They use the Sprint Network. Got one for my wife - and if that works o.k. may replace my cell as well. There's a $4.95 activation fee (you do this on-line or using a different phone) then 12 cents a minutepeak, 10 cents night/weekends including long distance. So long as you use it al least once every 60 days it stays active. Only difference seems to be that the clock starts ticking once you hit the "talk" button. I've looked for the loophole and can't find one. A $25 recharge card could last an infrequent user a year or more. I am paying $40 a month for 200 minutes plus unlimited nights/weekends but have never used over about 120 minutes a month. So with STimobile that's $15 max a month. Also, when I activated on-line and added my $25 recahrge card it told me I had a $26 balance so at least on-line they apparently start you with $5.95. That translates to free activation plus $1.
