Hyundai Azera

Since I seem to be the source for Korean cars here....Tonight I rode in the upcoming (for the US market anyway) Hyundai Azera http://www.hyundaiazera.com/ It's marketed here in Korea as the Hyundai XG 270 or XG 350 depending on engine size.I was amazed...I honestly don't think I've ever ridden in a nicer vehicle. And the one I rode in was a TAXI!!! Big comfortable leather seats, totally quiet and smooth, LOADS of room, great dash design, materials felt like top quality materials, the engine pulled hard when the driver got on it (and it sounded great to boot)...I was very impressed!I'm not as excited about the rear fenders...they kinda look fat to me. But the interior of that thing just ROCKS!I checked the Korean Hyundai site...it's being sold here for anywhere between $25K and $34K...not sure what US pricing will turn out to be when it hits the streets there.Wow...I'm still amazed at how nice of a vehicle that was.

Hyundai is an example of a company that's really pulled their act together and overcome former negative impressions. If only GM could do that....

3.8 v6 263hp, mmmmm nice and it doesnt look to bad. 25k is a lot (for me ) but thats a good price at a luxury car sedan. i agree with gmjap about hyundai.

Oh yeah! I saw it at the NY auto show back in the spring. It's a really nice car. For the $29,995 Limited model with the Premimum and Ultimate options, man that thing has some cool stuff: Rain sensing wipers, power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, memory power seat, power folding outside mirrors, power sunshade for the rear window, blah blah blah... Being on a stretched version of the new Sonata platform, the car should go far to please the masses, I keep reading positive review after positive review for the Sonata... Almost makes you want to double-check to make sure you're still reading an article about a Hyundai. So hopefully this should be no exception. At any rate, light years ahead of the XG350, that's for sure. They've really done their homework. I wish I could afford the price of admission, but that isn't possible at the moment... But I guess there's still the Sonata to shoot for, I'm determined to get there at least.

It could be the next Tibby, who knows... I've seen the letters RWD kicked around too! http://www.autoblog.com/entry/1234000460069129/There was talk of a Sonata coupe a while back as well, a Solara-fighter would be nice to add to their lineup - I'd buy one.

Made a mistake on the Korean market name for it...I was thinking it was using the same name as the outgoing US model. Over here it's called the Grandeur, with numbers following indicating engine size. The name is SUPER pretentious though...seems as though most Korean luxury cars have pretentious names...Dynasty, Chairman, Exceed, Grandeur...all pretty cheezy if you ask me. Nice cars, no doubt, but I'd feel funny driving something called the Chairman.

It would probably (removed) off your co-workers if they overheard you say "Yeah, I drove the Chairman to work today" as they would think you're stuck up some executive's (removed).

I've been watching the Hyundai site for new incentives... I so happened to run across a lease deal on the Azera Limited for $299/month for 27 months...I would SO jump right on that if I wasn't so bloody upside down in the Vibe and I could cut the mileage I drive by at least half so I could turn the car back in once the lease is up.. AND if I could pull three grand out of somewhere to put down on the damn thing.

That Azera is pretty nice. Hyundai is really turning around and is really changing my opinion of them. You get a lot of features for the money and they claim more interior space than a BMW 7 series, must be spacious.

Loads of interior space, and the seats are very comfortable. As far as the exterior goes, I like the front end, but the rear fenders don't do it for me...I think Hyundai was going for a muscular look with the rear fenders, but it comes off in person as being a little bloated instead. Not horrible, but I prefer the crisper lines of the Sonata.I just wish I could drive one to see what it feels like, rather than just ride in one.
