Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here at GenVibe. It's been an awesome year here with you all. I have shared a few Vibe milestones with you this year, as I made it to Ohio to my 1st meet. I found many ways to improve my Vibe, including today's...... Installation of an '06 style lower console and storage compartment AND ....I finally found a Matrix AM/FM/Cassette/CD unit!! naw, not going anyway, unless God has other plans that I don't know about....just with the holidays and the end of my 1st year here, I just felt grateful, and thought I would share.

the '03~ very early '05's had a problem with the latch, the new design actually has a LATCH, rather than a push button to hold it closed. The stoopid thing stayed open more than it did closed.

Ah; okay. And the new console trim has a rectangular hole in the top of the compartment area, right?

Yes, it has a much larger-than-before hole where the latch actually goes into the shifter surround trim. I went ahead and got both the compartment and the shifter trim (aka the front console) instead of cutting a larger hole in the existing part.

So TN, would it work to just get an '06 compartment for an '04, and would it work? Besides the rattle in my dash, that *&#$ compartment flopping open ALL the time is my biggest gripe with the Vibe! If all it would take is to order a new part, I'd do it!

man id love a new lower compartment, mine is just chillin in the open position.

*shruggs* I don't see why not, I just chose to replace both parts rather than fool around with enlarging the existing hole, plus it gives me a lower console assy to sell at the next week
