I don't understand why you would buy a tire with a higher profile when you are obviously looking for performance. You have lowering springs and the G009 is the 4th ranked high performance tire, I don't get it. 3% is the recommended maximum size difference.Edit: I just noticed on tirerack.com that the 205/60/16 is only $72.00 instead of $93.00 for the 205/55/16

yeah, why you would go with higher profile tires?

sunny got it. it was cheaper to get the 60 profiles, also a slightly larger profile helps with traction in snow. i actually got them installed for 75.00 each. so i'm still seeking the answer to my question. do i need to recalibrate my spedometer?

don't bother. Most speedos read 1 to 2 mph high anyway...per the feds. So if anything you'll read about 1mph low at highway speeds. Some construction areas have stationary radar warning you when you are going too fast. Find one and check it.

Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Your performance will drop slightly because it is harder for the engine to turn a taller (larger diameter) tire. I went with 225/50/16 which is virtually identical in diameter to the stock 205/55/16 but is 3/4" wider.

alright so i used the little tire calculator and here's what i figured out45 mph = 36495 revolutions with 55 profile36495 rev with 60 profile = 46.49mph70 mph = 56770 rev. with 55 profile56770 rev. wit 60 profile =72.31847 mphnot too terribly big of a difference so i'm not too worried about it

don't recalibrate. this can be your defense if you get a ticket. my wife got a wreckless driving ticket down to regular speeding because she got her car calibrated and was off a mile or so at high speed. the receipt she got didn't say exactly how off it was. the judge just looked at it and decided it wasn't a wreckless.
