LAME!!!! Someone tapped my bumper and managed to crack it. The car is less than 2 months old. I wonder how much it would cost to fix it without using my insurance (500 dedectable).Any ideas? Thanks!

A picture will help to examine the cost.

When I looked in the book for a new two-tone rear bumper it was about $375...ended up finding a used one and the guy that fixed my car screwed me over.Since the bumper is plastic you wont be able to fix it

Being rear-ended 4 times, I've learned quite a bit about the costs of replacing the rear bumper. The entire claim has always cost just over $800 with my rental included. Baltovibe just posted that he had his repaired and the total cost was just over $600. Not sure why it was cheaper since repair shops use standard rates for the insurance industry, but to replace the bumper it will be between $600-800.Sorry to hear about it. I sure would be pissed especially with your Vibe being so new!Good luck,

I bought one mail-order for about $300, and installed it in 1 hr. To bad you weren't closer. I'd install it for $20. Oh, mine was 2-tone - not painted.

Damn that sucks! I feel for you though. Someone in my Apartment complex damaged my vibe as well. I backed into my spot just long enough to pick up my wife for her dentist appointment. I was only away from the car for about 15 minutes...durring that time someone parked next to me and left soon thereafter. I didn't notice anything until we arrived at the dentist's office. We were tottaly excited about the new car because we had just gotten the call from the finance company (durring the 15 minutes I was at the apartment) saying that we have been officially approved and financed. After getting out of the car at the dentist's office I looked back and saw that my driverside Rear quater pannel had been hit. There was a huge black mark left by someones bumper and a few small gouges and dents on the trim just above my wheel well. Of course the paint had been scratched up as well. Luckily there was no damage to the metal.I took it back to the dealership where I had just bought it and was given an estimate for around $300 to replace that plastic trim and make it look like new. I didn't want to deal with paying that much for a simple repair, so I found some matching touch-up paint and presto...all fixed...unless you are right up next to it. I would hate to know how much it would cost to have an entire bumper replaced and painted to match. You would probably be better off just getting a body kit for it...if they're still in production.
