Well, I drove up to Sherbrooke, QC, and gave my car the Krown Rustproofing, on Friday. It was 160 miles one way but I hope its worth it. Boy that stuff goes everywhere. Its been leaking out for 3 days. What have you guys used to get the excess cleaned off that have had your cars treated with krown? Hope it doesnt permanently stain the gray cladding. Thanks,DaveAuburn, ME

Would Simple Green work to clean the oil drip marks fro the cladding? Would it hurt the gray cladding? I guess I would need to re-dress it with some protectant after, like 303 protectant. Any other suggestions? Thanks

I have no suggestions, so I'm a waste of time with this. I also hate people who do what I'm about to do here, but why in the world did you drive that far and spend bucks to do this when it isn't recommended?

Because I am going to keep the car on the road as long as possible. Like 10-15 yrs +, and I'm sure rust will eventually set in. I drove my 93 Suzuki Swift for 12 yrs with 176,000 miles on it and the body is toast. The salt they use on the roads up here after time will take its toll. If not, then at least I have peace of mind. I've read that most new cars used galvanized sheet metal and that the metal its coated with a rust protectant, but then I've seen new cars ,less then 10 yrs old with rust on them up here, so somethings not working somewhere. I'd rather not have to do it, but I know what the salt does. I guess I'm just paranoid with rust. I restored a 72 VW bus and replaced half the body with new sheet metal because of rust. Maybe that wont happen with the Vibe, but I havent been able to confirm online whether or not the Vibe definately was built with galvanized sheet metal, unless someone else can confirm it. Also, I've read posts on here where some already have rust on their 2-3 yr old vibes (that didnt help). I've seen places on my Vibe with missing paint and just primer. Its possible that it will never rust without getting it treated, but i dont trusted the manufacturer or anyone today with thier so called guarantee's. (Rant mode off

) Has anyone else found any difinate confirmation online of galvanized sheet metal being used specifically on the vibe? Anyone have any opinions of whether the spot welds and metal bending will affect the effectiveness of the "built-in" rust protection?

Will be doing same.Biggest issue for me is to protect the door seams at the bottom, & tailgate bottom seam.Mess takes about a week to stop, Then continues on nice days when it gets hot and flows. After first couple weeks, it's not a big deal.
