Unichip STOLEN! (long)

I sent my Unichip module in for remapping in hopes that it'll fix my lean condition @ wot on the 20th of Oct. I called the company Mon., the 24th and they happend to be working on it so I asked them to ship it the same day over night so I could drive my car on my first day back from medical leave. The rest of the week went by and I thought that maybe FedEx was taking their time again or maybe Unichip lost or didn't send it. Finally got a hold of Unichip people on Monday, halloween, to find out that it was delivered to my mom-in-laws home on the 25th without a signature! The whole point of shipping it to her home was so someone would be home to sign for it since I'm @ work from sun up to sun down. So, after work I go to her home which is a house that has been remodled to hold 2 apts. up stairs from her. After searching the grounds and the inside I decided to ask the other tenants but deep down I had the suspicion that the one redneck hillbilly nazy had a hand in my missing chip. The other tenant came out and said she hadn't seen any package. Then I confronted the hillbilly. He said that he talked to the FedEx guy and that he left the package on the porch. (Tracking slip said it was delivered @ 11:03am. My wifes sis-in-law said she was home @ 11:30am and didn't see the package.) So I asked the guy if I could look in the gabage to see if any nucklehead might have throun it away. He gave me permission so I put the gloves on and dove in. After about 10min. I opened one of his gabage bags that was twist-tyed shut and there at the bottom of the bag was MY FexEx envalope ripped open with only the invoice in it but no chip. Along in the bag was receipts from a video store with the guys name on it. By this time he was talking to more redneck hillbillys across the street so I took the bag and my envalope over and asked him if he was the name on the receipt. He said yes. Then I told him that this is your garbage and that I found MY envalope in your garbage, where's my chip!? He immediatly got all deffensive and said he doesn't know anything and that some one Must have planted it and that I shouldn'tbe digging in other peeps gabage, blah, blah, blah. I asked him again where my chip is. More defensive garble and some crap about his one wheel beeing loosened. So I said fine You can tell it to the police. The officer showed up only 5 min. after I called and I showed him what I found, he took my info and statement then went to talk to the guy. He came back and said that he sorta believes his story But that he thinks his room mate took it. And then right on que the misterious room mate showed up all drunk and stumbling up the porch. The cop had him identify himself and asked him if he ever saw 'this envalope' before? (the envalope was just behind him) and he was saying no as he was turning his head to look at it . So after the whole 3 hours of interviews the cop said that he's sure the room mate took it and most likely still has it, but since both nuckleheads were accusing each other it's difficult to areest any one at this time. The cop took the envalope in to see if he could get any finger prints and said he'll call later for an update.Three hours later the cop calls saying that my chip has been 'turned' in and he'll be droping it off after he dust's it for prints and that the room mate has bolted. I asked if it ws damaged and he said it didn't appear so. Half-hour later he shows up while I have guest and we all greet him at the door. He hands me my chip and asks if he can see the car run to make sure its ok. Hooked it up ad it started right up! I thanked the officer like a hundred times and then went back in to my guests. What realy pi$$ed me off was that I missed trick-or-treating with my 9 and 3 year old girls cause of this and I was without my car for a week and a half. Man I hate sending my chip in to get remaped. It never goes right!

I know EXACTLY how you feel dude. The savages in the apt next door stole my package AFTER SIGNING FOR IT! It was a digital camera, huge mem stick, etc. They denied it, of course, even though her signature was on record. She accused her cousin of stealing it, etc. They bounced for days at a time.I filed a claim with Fedex, left threatening notes on the neighbor's door about police involvement. About 2 weeks later, only the camera was turned in. About a month after that, FedEx refunded the money for my entire order! In the end, I pretty much got a free camera out of the deal but the whole situation was hell.Oh yeah, my neighbors and I managed to get the savages evicted because of that incident.

That's incredible. If it hadn't been for your persistence and determination in seaching the garbage and following up with the police, your chip would be gonzo. What great neighbors.

That is one heck of a story! Frankly, I'm impressed with the persistance of the police officer on your case. He definitely deserves a shoutout from the GV group on your behalf.Glad to hear that you're back up and running.

That sounds like he was just stealing it to steal it.

A couple of goons rang my neighbors door bell, She didn't answer so they assumed she wasn't home. Next thing they do is attempt to remove her window glass so they can get in. She shows up and they bolt. Cops wouldn't even take the finger prints from the glass. It's a lot easier to nab some guy for not signaling for a turn or other chicken poop matter. They are really big on protecting the public from jay walkers. One of my favorites is a case involving "unnecessary use of horn". They have a powerful union that sticks up for them no matter what. Recently the big push has been arresting people for violating the open container law at Ohio State games. I thought it would be funny to have a can of diet coke inside one of those foam can holders and see if they try to arrest me. But I believe they would cite me anyway and it would be my word against theirs in court and the local judges take everything a cop says as the absolute truth and believe the accused is always lying.

That is why I like to pre-pay the return shipping and put insurance on pakages myself. I have had my repaired electronics stolen off my porch when a signature was required, and I got my money back plus some. Mostly RMAs to Zipzoomfly.com, who always treats me great.

at least you got it back... think of it this way... you could have gotten it right the first time, went out with the kids and something could have happened to them. But thats just me, lookin at both sides of the picture.
