I don't get it.

Ok so my Vibe has just over 53k miles on it. I've gone through the great Conti's and now a set of Dunlops. Are there any other Vibers out there that have also gone through tires this quickly? I may also add that I have an AWD. Could this be the reason for short tire life? My alignment seems to be fine, no shimying, vibrations or major veering left or right. This is a link to the tires I am considering to purchase. HOpefully they will last. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...ace=0

No, just replace the rears. I will get 40k out of the fronts. I have read a lot of negatives on rotating.

I've rotated a couple of times. but the tread ware on the rear is thin and the fronts which were the good set of Conti's when I bought the Dunlops are dry rotted where the tred meets the sidewall. I wish I had my old pickup still. in the 4 years I had it I only had to buy 2 tires. Those BFG All Terains were the bomb. They never wore out! Now I get this lil 4 banger and it's like it has an appetite for rubber! oh well, I guess it's off to the tire store next week. Hopefully I can find a place that will include mounting and balancing with the purchase of the tires.

I can't speak for the effect of AWD on tire life. I have a 2wd base automatic.'High Performance' type tires (V- or Z-rated) are generally built with a more agressive cord angle, stiffer sidewalls for better handling (often at the cost of some ride comfort) and a softer compound for better grip at ultra-high speeds. (135+ mph). Honestly, even a Vibe GT isn't going to spend a lot of time at those speeds on American highways. You might want to look at the 'Touring' type tires for a quieter, smoother ride and a perhaps a longer tread life. The stock 16" Conti's are 'touring' rather than 'high performance' tires. The extreme wear many Vibers have experienced with the Contis is because they were just a cheap tire to begin with.

From what it looks like in the pics and videos, it looks like the tire is black like normal, but when it's heated up/spun, the rubber that shreads off is red (or blue), along with the smoke. I'd like to try the blue ones on my red Vette.

I know some people who own Subarus and like them but one thing they complain about is that they chew up tires, so I'd agree with you it's the AWD. I only have 6K on my AWD VIBE. Used to own a Subaru Forester for a little while. At 20K the origional were about ready for replacement.Next time I might step down to a T or S rated tire. A guy who sells tires told me you'd give up some handling but you'd get much bettter wear.

I have 92,000 mi on my '03 Vibe it came with the Goodyear RSA's that lasted 12,000 mi I replaced them with Goodyear LS's (only because of the price) and they lasted 32,000 mi (a little better) then I got really cheap and went to PEP BOYS and purchased a set of their Futura 2000 LTE's for $57/each, these are made by Cooper Tire. They now have 47,000 mi on them and still have legal tred depth. They came with a 70,000 mile warranty(that at the time I thought was funny, thinking I would never get over 30,000 out of them). I will be replacing them before winter because the weather can be rough around here. I will get the same tire again. They have been really good with decent wet/snow traction and the price is right. Of course if you look at the brand of tire as a status symbol you probably would never go to a PEP BOYS for tires, but if you want a decent tire at an affordably price it works...

as everyone here knows, I have an AWD too, and I love my Bridgestone G009's, but.....I put a set of these http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...ace=1on the Princess Leia Vibe, and they are SO much quieter.......but, they are also 6 months newer, and anything was better than the Dunlops I had at the time of purchase.

Got rid of my Goodyears last year at around 22,000 miles...they were horrible tires. I bought a set of Barum Bravuris tires and they are holding up well. I'm at 41,000 now and still rollin good.BTW those red smoke tires cost like $5000 each I think lol...Buy a set for the Vibe and you'll never get to enjoy the red smoke!
