What is the bottom button on the right side of the stereo for? What is the little circle near the shifter for? Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure what the extra button by the stereo is for. Mine just has a delete plate there. If you have the auto, the circle by the shifter is a defeat for the interlock (to keep you from putting the tranny in gear without pressing the brake).

I don't have a security system in my Vibe, but I have this little red blinking lite under the cd player. Anyone got a clue as to that thing?

The is a standard security feature of the stereo (seperate from the "security system" for teh car itself). If the radio is removed from the vehicle it will not work unless a dealer gets the code for it.

My Bad. I meant on the left side of the stereo. Just under the A/C button.

hehe! as if anyone would steal a factory stereo. how ghetto do ya have to be. i think i'd steal the shift knob first. IMHO anyway.i thought the security system and the radio security were interlocked. meaning if you tried to steal the radio the car car wouldn't start. LOL!

The crazy thing about the delco stereos is that they are expensive to replace. So if yours goes bad and is not under warranty they are outrageous to replace. A good point is that some places will buy your delco radios if you replace yours with aftermarket.

IN our VIBE directly under the AC button is a button that has a picture of a car and an arrow that half circles in the car, it circulates are that is already in your vehicle, it's suposed to help make the AC work less. Under that button is another button that doesn't put, I asked our dealer and he said that was just for looks, it doesn't push or do anything, just to make it look nice. Hope that answers your question...

The button under the A/C button is for recirculate. Basically what it does is close off the outside vent and just recirculated the air inside the car. This is good for the A/C on very hot days because it is recirculating the already cooled air inside the car instead of trying to cool the hotter outside air. The recirculate button is also good for blocking bad smelling outside air. For example, if you get stuck behind a truck that is just pouring out thick, black exhaust smoke. That bad air will get inside the car. If you turn on the recirculate mode, all outside air is blocked from getting in. The only time the recirculate should not be used is with the defroster on because it will form condensation on the inside windows. The buttom under the recirculate isn't used at this time. Probably for future use or for use for an option in foreign models (Japan, etc.).

Anybody know where you can find buttons that look like the factory ones?I'd like to hide my garagedoor opener behind the dash and put in a button to activate it under the AC buttons.

be careful of that recirculate button. If you are on a long trip and keep it on recirculate you are getting no new oxygen so really there is a potential for carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide poisoning. so every once in a while turn the recirc off.

The only time I use my recirculate button is when it's 100 degrees outside in the summer so I can cool off the car quicker. I like the fresh air better.

Hope you find a button. I think using it as a garage door control is a GREAT idea! It's just become one of my pet projects too.KSNeptune!

Let us know how it turns out. I'd be interested in trying the same when you figure it out.

This is not an issue. The car is not that "tight" and if this were the case you can bet it would be covered with a big CYI in the owners manual. For all, the manual reads: "Press this button, located in the center of the instrument panel to the left of the audio system, to recirculate inside air through the comfort control system. An indicator light in the button will come on to let you know the feature is in use. Press the button again to turn off recirculate and to circulate outside air through the system. The indicator light will go off. Recirculate will automatically go off when the climate control system mode knob is turned to defog or defrost or is between modes."Quoting Nova: "The only time the recirculate should not be used is with the defroster on because it will form condensation on the inside windows."So, if your getting condensation, have it checked. Maybe it's not automatically going off.

The space behind the fake button below the recirc button is used by the recirc cable actuator, so you wouldn't be able to install a functioning button in that spot.

The only thing that I have seen that fake button for is an alarm system LED light for an aftermarket alarm. If there was more room behind it there would be endless uses for it. i'm still trying to figure out where to put the ejection seat button

I am a volunteer fireman, instead of having an ugly dash light, I am having strobe lights installed in the head, fog, and backup lights. I plan on using that switch for the lights.

Just razzing you man. I don't think the cabin is so air tight that you would be poisoned from the rising CO2 levels from breathing. But I haven't tested it Jason

The little-known recirc cable!

It took me forever to figure this one out! After having pulled the radio surround to peek at the wiring, I noticed this big cable running up there but couldn't for the life of me figure out what it did. After days of head-scratching I finally gave up.Months later, I accidentally nudged the recirculate button. I've got the space above the A/C button covered with velcro, and I hang my phone there. Since the phone was in front of it, I didn't see the indicator light. Miles down the road, the interior started to fog up. I reached down to turn the vent control over to "defogger" and the phone twitched!Man, a lightbulb the size of a hot-air balloon must've appeared over my head just then. Twisting the vent control over to either defogger position causes the recirculate button to automatically push itself out. I can't imagine how much this cable mechanism costs to manufacture, or why it couldn't all be done electronically instead of mechanically.

There are two dead spaces there. I think we had another member who was gonna try to put that space to use...But no, that third button below the A/C controls is actually occupied behind the facade by some unknown cable...

So can someone explain that little button near the shifter? That little round job to the right of park. It has no emblem over it, looks tacky and pressing it does jack. Looks like a round piece of plastic with a big spring behind it.

Or is he referring to the O/D button?

Yes I meant on the shifter casing. I do know where the O/D button is located. Why didn't they cover this up or put a pontiac emblem on it to make it look decent?
