They are great. I have had one for a while now, but rarely get to use it. It sucks that the games are about average price for a game system and the movies tend to cost more unless you get older ones. It is awesome to have to portability, though, so I can use it while I am on watch for 8 hrs during the night to play games or watch movies on. No rentals yet for these things, but I'm sure it's soon to come. The graphics are sweet, especially for a handheld! I only have 2 games since I bought it but have been wanting to buy more, just too pricey for me, especially when I have a PSP, PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube! I have games sitting around I haven't even started (thanks to a wife and 14mo son!). Can't beat it though, worth every penney!

there are ways to back up the games, so i think you can have more than one run off of a memory stick , save a little room and not breaking a umd when going portable

Make sure you do a software update when you get it. You will enjoy the wireless internet web browser. Also load it up with some MP3's, movies and pics.2. No online gaming, but that is in the works.

I got one a couple weeks after it launched. I got sucked into the hype. Yes, it is a really cool gadget. The graphics are close to PS2 level graphics, just a little behind, but excellent for a handheld. The screen is beautiful, as long as you get one without defects. Hopefully Sony has improved the quality since launch, but I went through 3 PSPs when I first bought it because of stuck pixels in the middle of the screen, buttons that were sticking, and a UMD door that was crooked. My third one has been great, still has some stuck pixels, but I can live with them. The downsides are the games are still all $40-$50 each and the selection isn't all that great. More games are coming, in fact a Grand Theft Auto game that lots of people have been waiting for is coming out this week. The best game I have is Lumines, a great addicting puzzle game. Since I have one of the first manufactured, I have the earlier firmware version 1.5. This allows you to download hacks off the internet onto it. So, actually what I have used my PSP for is playing my old Nintendo games I used to play as a kid. You can download emulators from Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, and others. Pretty cool to be using my Sony PSP to play all these old Nintendo games LOL. The games (ROMS) are complete copies of the originals. Other multimedia capabilities are the movies, photo viewer, and mp3 player. There is free software out there and good tutorials online for ripping your DVDs into the format for the PSP. Then you download it onto the Memory Stick Duo. Even with all these cool features, I actually haven't used it all that much. I used it on my flights when I travelled, but I don't use it at home much anymore.

if you have a wireless router at home you can use kai xlink to play games over the internet. otherwise i think its just other psp's with in the area. ridge racer had me hooked for hours when i used my friends. lumines is super addicting, socom is out for it!!! i love socom! GT4 will be coming out for it aswell and yes gta!! lots of great games and movies, that 5" screen is amazing. im looking for a broken psp i can get and fix up for semi cheap.

I received it a couple of days ago. This thing is awesome! Amazing graphics for such a small screen. I have a bunch of games and movies on the way from eBay. Also ordered a car mount so now I can have portable in-car entertainment with a wireless FM transmitter for sound to come over my car speakers. Ice, Ice, Baby!

I used to have a 1st gen Game Boy when I was a kid and now my posture is permanantly messed up .I've been interested in these PSP's for a while now, but I also have a few questions. It says it's WiFi compatable, but can you actually browse the net? What browser software does it use? Can I download pics directly from my digital camera to the psp? Can I copy mpg, avi, etc files to it and play them? Also, where can I get those nintendo emulators?

I was actually just playing my PSP. Yes, you can browse the web with the PSP. Sony released the latest firmware that includes an Internet web browser and some other new features, such as custom backgrounds (like Windows desktop). I haven't used the browser, but one of my brothers does. It seems to work very well. About your digital camera, no you can't download your pictures directly. You have to download them to the PC and then copy them onto the PSP memory card.

It has it's own browser but you can get others on eBayCan I download pics directly from my digital camera to the psp? You can also get this software off eBay.Also, where can I get those nintendo emulators? I saw one on eBay last night but cant find the auctionAlso, there are a couple eBay sellers that are offering PSP Toolkit CD/DVD. I ordered one to see what was incuded with it. It states that it will show you how to convert movies to psp format and offer different web browsers other that the one that comes with the PSP. I will check it out and write up what I find.

Oh Bluecrush, I wish you asked about those. There is a lot of great free software you can find online for converting videos and transferring files easily. I'll see if I can find the sites, I haven't checked them out in a while. I use the software on my PC at home. I've heard that those eBay sellers often resell free software and instructions that you can find on websites. I'll post what I find.

Here are two sites I definitely recommend checking out:
http://www.pspvideo9.com/ Download and try out this PSP Video converter/downloader. Totally free and works great. Compare it to what you are buying off eBay and let us know what you think.
http://www.psp-hacks.com/ This site has tons of usefull information and downloads. What games do you have for your's? I have Lumines, Untold Legends, and Wipe Out Pure.

I haven't been playing mine much lately. I haven't bought any games since launch, although there are several I would like. I use the emulators to play some classics and if I buy new games, I'd have to update the firmware and won't be able to use the hacks anymore. BlueCrush, how did that software you bought off ebay work out? Lately I've been trying to finish some of my PS2 games that I've bought in the past 5 years and never completed. I've been working on MGS2 the last few weeks and just finished yesterday. Great game, but MGS3 is still my favorite.

And I still buy new ones, like the Full Auto for the 360 I just preordered!

Well, I've had my PSP for almost a year now and finally bought a new game, first time since launch. I bought Syphon Filter and it's awesome so far. Northvibe, did you get it? The graphics really are amazing for a handheld, pretty much PS2 level graphics. There seem to be a lot of good games coming out now and this year; plus the connectivity to the PS3 sounds promising. Can't wait till the end of the year.
