I need your experience. I think I need the flexibility of being able to pay with "Paypal". Up till now I have used only credit card to pay for online ordered materials. However I know nothing about how to safely obtain a Paypal account. Can you guys/gals lead me through the process. Considering all the phishing spam telling me about my suspended paypal account, I am a bit nervous.

All you need is a credit card or a bank account and you're good to go. I've used PayPal for over five years without any problems. As far as those e-mails are concerned, I never even open them. I'll go to PayPal's website directly and check my account on my own. You do have to update your credit card information when it expires, but that's not a problem.

I dont use Paypal any more, I got ripped off by a guy last summer who sent a turbo for my Talon. All Papal would do is ban the guy, not give me my 300 buck back. I wouldnt Urinate on paypall if it was on fire.

How's paypal supposed to gaurantee he sends you the goods, or even refund your money? They don't claim to insure anything, or to cover a buyer's funds if the good aren't delivered. Neither does eBay. Had you just sent him a check or money order, he would still have ripped you off and not been banned by paypal. I dont see what paypal could have done in that situation. What you should do is contact your bank/CC card co. and dispute the charge, citing fraud on the sellers end. They'll most likely help you out.Perhaps you could have arranged to pay for half until it was received.

Actually paypal has 1000 dollar buyer protection. Big friekin joke though cause if that person's account doesnt have the funds, you get absolutely jack crap. They were alright till ebay bought them, then all downhill.

As long as you have no problems, then they are cool. But as soon as you have an issue the nightmare begins, the phone number is almost impossible to find, then you are on hold for a long time, and to top it off there is no real solution from talking to this alleged "warm body". So if you never have no payment or any disputes then rock on, but the day you have an issue you will curse them. Read this site and learn http://paypalsucks.com/

I've been using paypal for many years and never had a problem. I think it's great because I'm not giving my credit card info to everyone I buy stuff from, but it's just as fast.

That is why I primarily use paypal account that is linked to my credit card only. This way, you can dispute the charge with paypal and also with your credit card company. With a paypal account linked to your checking account, you only can dispute it with paypal since you have authorized the transfer of funds from your checking account to paypal - therefore no recourse from your bank.BTW, paypal is limiting you to $2,000 total paypal transactions if you only link your account to your credit card.

I just signed up with pay pal. I like it. Very easy to use. I have a feeling this is the future of online shopping.

Since Ebay bought PayPal, I'll bet PayPal has inherited the same "I've got my fees, screw you, I don't care" policy.I just removed my bank account from PayPal. Excellent idea. Thanks

I use paypal linked to a credit card I dedicate for Internet use only. I don't like the idea of a vendor getting my credit card number. That said, I guess I trust the waiter at the resturant, the gas station attendant and and pizza guy.I also got a credit card at a different bank with lower limit than my primary card ($1000 vs $10,000 for primary). Less risk incase of rip-offs and I can monitor Internet transactions from one account. Oh, I also keep my debts and assests at different banks. A trick I learned from a collections friend. I've never had a problem with PayPal or Ebay but I've heard lots of hazardous tales.Buyer beware!Andrew
