I am thinking going to get Lasek eye surgery done sometime in the next few months. Just wondering if anybody has had it done, and wondering what to expect, besides a hefty bill.

Very red, sensitive eyes for a couple of days. I've not had it myself but I've had a few friends who have and other than the first couple days afterward they said it's very much worth it.

I have been thinking of having this procedure done myself... but that price tag is enough to make me think twice about it. I have friends that have had it done and they say it is worth EVERY penny!

Someday...I'll win the lottery...and THEN...I'll see without f'ing contacts or glasses...Until then...If you can afford it...the prospect of being able to undo years of damage in a few minutes is pretty much one of the greatest things they've come out with...if I could afford it, I'd be all over that.

When I first started working for my company it was apart of the bennefits for $100. I did not do it that first year as everyone was and I figurered I would have it done the following year. But they stopped offering it and I am still wearing glasses.

There is a place in dearborn is offering $295 an eye. I went and had there free exam, there price jump from $295 an eye to $1200.00 an eye because mine needed more work then normal.I ask them about cash discounts, they then told me $2200.00 for both.the weird part was the doctor who did the exam wore glasses. Then they offered a manitance program $199.00 an eye they would correct them as many times as i needed for a year.So I figured if I didn't get the extra manitance program they wouldn't do there best job.So, I ran like as fast as I could away from there.

I had Lasik done about 3.5 years ago. It was worth every penny. It came out great and I haven't needed glasses or contacts again. I took 2 days off work to rest afterwards. My eyes felt like they were really dry and scratchy for the first couple of days, but that feeling goes away as they heal. I had 2 different eye drops I had to put in every 6 hours. Now I have some halo effect on bright ights at night, but it's not that much worse then before I had it done.I didn't go to a "discount" place because I figured "you get what you pay for". Plus, those places tack on tons of fees so its really not that much cheaper. The cost my doctor quoted me covered everything, my medications, follow up visits. etc. A person I know went to one of those places that advertise cheap Lasik and the guy over-corrected (took too much off) one of her eyes. They can't fix over-correction because there is nothing to put back, so she still needs glasses, but only for 1 eye.

I know a couple people that went to Windsor On. to get this done. They saved a lot of money by just crossing the river from Detroit.http://www.lasikmd.ca/lasik-clinic-windsor.html
