Well, I ordered my HID lights, headlights and fogs. I ordered the 8000K color temp. Can't wait to get them in and post a few pics. First things first, I have to disable the DRLs.

Trick is contorting yourself under your dash to get at it.8000k are what I would go with too... brighter the better. I'm not in it for purple lights.

I like the 8000K.I didn't want to go with the pure white, I like the blueish tint. But the purple 10000K lights are really ugly and wouldn't look right on my Lava Vibe.

I may just do the underdash yoga anyway, I still have to install the remote starter I bought off of Mike.

I'm not in it for purple lights.Remember, 8000°K refers to color temperature, or "whiteness," not brightness. Brightness is measured in lumens or candlepower. 8000°K is a nice color. I had 6000°K heads and 7000°K fogs. Not sure why the company sent me two diff temps. I didn't think I'd notice the difference. But I did. The 6000°K still had a touch of yellow to it, while the 7000°K seemed white. 8000°K should look great. Can't wait until I get brave enough to HID the G6. Shortly thereafter there came about another wire you could cut and not have to ground and get the same results. Figures.Quote, originally posted by Mr. Poopypants »But the purple 10000K lights are really ugly and wouldn't look right on my Lava Vibe.Anything above 8500°K or so is when you start losing light to color. 10,000°K and higher is absurd, and is more for show then function.

True - but brightness is directly inverse of color temp, given equal power is supplied. They don't give you stronger inverters for the higher color temps, so your brightness drops the hotter your lamp is.When all is said and done a 8k bulb is going to be brighter than 9k, just like you said.

Arg - feel for you.Question - what brand/make/model did you get? And do the headlights have the high/low functionality still?

A lot easier than doing underthedashyoga. My understanding was that disconnecting the DRL sensor caused the system to always stay in DRL mode. It was a cure for having the thing switch between DRL and full headlights, which annoyed some people due to the sensitivity in the 03 models, but disconnecting the sensor is pretty much exactly what Mr. P needs to NOT do. Would cause the DRLs to be on all the time unless he specifically turned the headlights on using the switch on the turn signal lever.

I just got a foreign brand. I did get the HI/LO HIDs. I was going to get McCollugh (sp?) but the HI/LO's alone were almost $500.So I got the H4's and the 9006's 8K.
