What is the best way to make the exhaust a little quieter?

I have a big fat resonator:And a Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler:I also have a custom 2.25" downpipe and exhaust piping, a high flow Magnaflow Cat and a gutted out precat. I love the tone that comes from the exhaust I would just like it to be quieter. What is the best way to make it quieter while still maintaining the tone. Should I change the resonator or the muffler or both.I read some where that: "Resonator is responsible for high rev tone and muffler is responsible for low rev tone. If you're decreasing the length of both, it'll get louder and deeper or vice versa." Is this true?

Maybe two Resonators I put the Greddy Evo 2 pipe on my car it has an resonator plus the stock one on the car. nice low tone at idle, quiet at cruising, All hell breaks lose when you are on it. I really love the way it sounds.[IMG][/IMG]

Most exhaust companies now have silencers out. I preordered a set of proracing pipes for my Z and was told I had to order silencers with them because they will set off car alarms. silencers will make your exhaust quiet at idle/low RPM and scream at WOT.

So I am going to get a 24" and install Raammaat in the trunk area. That should take care of it for now. They also said that a Turbo system would make it quieter as well. So, I guess I'll have to get one of those now, too!

Well, I had the resonator swapped out today and I am very happy with the results. I went from a 12" to a 24" and it has made it quieter exactly where I wanted it. The high rmp sound was fine before but it was the low rpm that was way too loud in the cabin. Now, the interior sound and low rpm is perfect while the high rpm has remained the same. You can hear it but it is no longer deafening. It sound great! Thanks, guys for all you help!
