i know wrx's are fast machines but sti version will throw ya back. i wish i could put a turbo and intercooler on my 05 vibeGT. the dude with the suby said he had atleast 300+ hp at the flywheel and he was white smokin all four tires at launch but the low gears meant he had to shift to 3rd before reaching 60 mph. thats what i love about the vibegt 2 gears and 8000 rpms later your doin 60 mph. i couldn't stay with him at launch but with a longer torque curve (albeit less torque than his) i was able to keep it respectable although i don't think he was pushing his machine as hard as i pushed mine.

I have driven a STI and it will do 60 in second gear (actually 58 but volocity takes over with those things so it pushes it to 60 depending on grade and elevation). so on that note, he must have been taking it semi-easy on the car. those cars are BADASS,. I love the new design as well.

i was actually trying to find a impreza before i bought the vibe! i dont think they got the mileage i wanted though.

awd will never get the same mileage as the base vibe! just drinks up the gas! add a turbo and even LESS!

true, but what do you know that has 300+ HP and gets good mileage. The regular impreza isnt bad, the 2.5 is a good car for the non turbo buff

If you drive primarily highways, that is an awesome, powerful car that gets great mileage. I just drove it last week and cruising at 60 mph is around 1100-1200 rpm, barely above idle.

i hate the gold wheels, they remind me of a chariot or something. a little less pronounced hood scoop would help a lot too.

I love the sti! My buddy has a ZO6 vette and he got WHOOPED by an sti. Of course, if he would have had his vette in "competitive racing" mode it probably would have come out a little different. That is a sweet blue sti! Hate the hood! Having a different color hood like that looks like you could not afford to have it painted, or like you recently wrecked it. Now this is sweeeeet! Gotta get rid of the gihugic wing though, although I have to say at least it is not aluminum Those look HORRIBLE on ANYTHING!!!

I only have the pic and not any info from the article it was related to.

No way a new z06 would get smoked by an sti. The new z06 is rated in the 11's in the 1/4 mile. I would love to have a vette, but I need 4 seets and dont have the money to have an extra car. 13 Years when my son is off to college, likely to get one.

Well, you should know that you have at the very LEAST 75 additional horsepower PER gold-colored wheel. Remember my project over the summer? I did a lot under the hood and out the back with those exhaust pipes, but it was still slow as hell. Not so after the gold wheels though! (and the super duper tacky spoiler helped too!) lmaoBut really, I wonder what this "legacy" Mav is referring to is all about? Do enlighten us. And for the Vette guys, I don't believe it whooped the Z06 either.

I raced an STI from a 40mph roll in m 2004 GTO, dead even till 60, then I started to gain slightly. A Z06 of any year would eat my GTO alive! It would take a heavily modded one to keep up with a Z06, both weigh about the same, the STI has 300hp and the 06 has 405. Its not magic, just physics. The guy in the Vette could of however been a crappy driver.

There was a video -somewhere- on the Internet that showed a WRX doing a full-on all-wheel drive burnout in a parking lot... then getting caught by the cops.I was looking and looking - and can't find it. A gold star to anyone who knows its location.

Subaru and rally cross have had a long history, which is much of where the traditional gold rims came from. Most of the professional Subaru rally cross drivers like Solberg and others all have gold rims on their cars. Its tradition, its heritege. Sorry Hope but if I do ever get an STi, its going to probably have gold rims and yes I would be keeping that functional wing on the back. Both features are what I really like about the STi. There is a yellow bug eye 2003 WRX up here with black rims from the factory that was a special model from canada. Of course the cluster is now US but all the features on it can't be gotten on an american subaru. Was really cool... but US banks don't like Canadian cars so... I wonder if its still on the used lot. It looked HOT though.
