CEL ON more than OFF!

Have a Cosmo on my 05 Base that has worked great with only a few problems in 6 months. Now, about every other day, my CEL is ON! A quick check with the dealer found it to be related to air flow so I know it's my CAI. I have checked all the connections as well as the filter and all seems OK. When I reset, I let the car idle for at least 15 minutes.Has anyone else experienced this?Where should I look or what should I do?

What type of air flow problem?Check to make sure that the MAF is on correctly and not backwards.Clean the air filter.Clean the MAF sensor. If you still have a CEL on, put the stock air box in for a while and see if it comes back. Good luck!

something to try:1. disconect battery overnight2. reconnect battery 3. start car and let idle for 5-10 minutes

Will the long battery disconnect make a difference? I just don't know what effect this would have.

Checked my paperwork from the Dealer. Code set was PO171 - diagnose cause of lean condition.Codes cleared and retested 5% @ idle

You only need to disconnect the battery for about 15-20 minutes to completley clear the CEL. But it's easy to do and there's no harm in leaving it off overnight.I doubt that just a CAI would be the cause of a lean condition bad enough to throw a CEL. Try some fuel injector cleaner and run some higher octain gas through your system and see if that helps.

Did you oil the cosmo filter as recommended? You may have oil on the MAF. It won't need much with the CAI that already runs a bit lean. Reset when finished and cross fingers.

Oiled when first installed which was back in May, so I doubt that would be the problem now. I will try some injection cleaner to see if it helps. I also noticed that the hose that runs from under the plastic engine cover into the CAI had a very tight bend in it. I am wondering if it was crimping so I have rerouted it. Do not know if that would have caused this problem though. What is that hose for?
