The dealer (Cdn) needs to order a part (front axle seal) from the States. It isnt expected for a week. I didnt ask but is it not possible under these circumstances for them to try to see if the part is available thru Toyota?

I have found they are generally the same part # and are often cheaper through Toyota than GM.

I assume the Woodstock and Montreal warehouses were out of stock? In which case it would come from Lancing MI most likely. GM will only warranty parts that are replaced with GM parts... I know... its toyota... But a Toyota Matrix would not get any better luck getting warranty on a part being replaced from a GM parts department. Yes its the same part... but different name on the label. So no... can't get the part from Toyota and warranty if for you.Woodstock warehouse... same day/overnight availability. Montreal warehouse, 3 day delivery (even though you can drive there and back in 12 hours from london...) Lancing MI usually a week delivery... or longer depending on how nice the border is.

As Mav said, if it's a warranted repair, no, unfortunately, they can't get it from Toyota. The dealer could go over there and purchase the part from the parts guys, but GM would not reimburse them for that. Plus, there's nothing to say the Toyota dealer wouldn't also have to get it from the states! It's unfortunate, but, 'tis the way the cookie crumbles.Took about 2-3 days to get an exhaust manifold when my car was in the shop 2 weeks ago. Sucked. But having to drive the 'rents' G6 for a few days didn't kill me.

Well if you would not run it like a hot rod! Too bad they cannot get the part, I have ordered Vibe parts from my local Chevy dealer only because they give me a discount...

I explained to him that I had 'upgraded' my MT fluid to the manual recommended GM synthetic (Castrol Syntorq) and was concerned that I would lose it all during the repair. He had no problem agreeing to refilling it again with the much more expensive synthetic.
