$390 at 8.25% interest for 72 months. Gee, just think, another 3.25 years and this turd is all mine! Might as well say I've been paying $502/month for this thing for the last year, as I had to finance the GM Protection Plan interest free because I couldn't afford to buy it outright. That was a wise investment though! The GMPP payment will continue for the next few months then the warranty will be paid for.

Yep. I didn't want to go 72 months, but I kinda didn't have much of a choice. The previous loan was 60 months, but I owed $8K on a car that was worth $3250 on trade. So I went up to 72 months and ended up with a payment that was $3 more each month than the previous loan.

Don't feel so smug about interest rates of 0%, 1.9%, even 3.9%. You paid for it somewhere else - like in forfeiting the rebate.I don't borrow money but I know plenty of people that do. The unsubsidized rate for a 60 month loan for a person with an excellent credit score should not be more than 6%. A 72 month loan might push that to 7%. Those with some home equity often use that kind of a loan so the interest is a bit lower AND it is deductible. A 72 month home equity loan mught be 6.5% and if you are in the 25% bracket that brings the real cost down to 4.875%. Some home equity loans have a slight up front cost.

I know I should wait and pay it off, but I just can't. I don't think the car will last that long, and I know my nerves are already shot as it is.

Bought my 2004 Vibe used for $12,975.Originally financed at $244 and some cents at 4.9% interest for 60 months. Recently refinanced after 6 months (bank's minimum requirement) and now at $351.41 at 2.9% interest for 36 months.I'm paying $500.00 a month ($250.00 every paycheck/two weeks) so I'm ahead by 3 months right now on payment. Can't wait til it's finally all paid off!

348/ 72 mths, added extended warrenty & gap insurance - still 150 less then I was paying on my SportTrac which I traded in - I have resigned myself that I will always have a car payment - thinking in those terms, will probably trade in about 4 years (high mileage driver).

While I am not going to post my financial figures because I work for a bank, I'd like to adjust the comment that "credit scores determine your APR." The prime rate determines your real APR, otherwise the dealership is getting money out of you a different way.The only line that counts on any financial contract is that little Truth In Lending disclosure that says, "This loan will cost you XXXXX." Dealerships and banks play with the payment amount, term, and percentage rate as a 3-way, moving shell game. You might pay only $100 a month, but if your term is 150 months, who cares? Now, if you are a frequent car trader and will end up paying a car payment anyway (the least economical, but I can see the fun), the monthly payment may make a difference. But even comparing my XXX per month at X% for XX months doesn't mean a whole lot...what if your down payment was bigger than mine? What if your trade-in was worth more than mine? Dealerships also use these figures to confuse a buyer in the sales process.Anyhow, looking over the figures it still looks like I got a decent deal. No more stupid '89 Accord repar bills, and the last tank did 42 mpg.Yee-haw!

I've paid cash for every car I've ever bought; from my first air cooled VW Beetle back in 1975, to my '05 Vibe. In 30 1/2 years, I've purchased 4 used cars, and 5 new cars. I'm doing my part to keep the economy going, although my '05 Vibe is the first car I've purchased which was built in the USA.What's really foolish of me is that since 1984, I've owned 2 cars: double the insurance and maintanence.
