Well, my team, the Houston Astros, made the playoffs yesterday in scrappy manner, beating the Chicago Cubs 6-4. The Boston Red Sox got theirs as well, pounding the comfortable Yankees. So, here are the set ups:AL:New York Yankees vs Los Angeles-Anaheim Angels (Angels win 3-2)Chicago White Sox vs Boston Red Sox (White Sox win 3-0)NL:St. Louis Cardinals vs San Diego Padres (Cards win 3-0)Atlanta Braves vs Houston Astros (Astros win 3-1)So, who's your pick to win it all? Love to hear reasons why...

My heart is with the 'Stros, but the stats are with the 'Cards.Still, you gotta hand it to the guys from Houston; they went from 15 games below (in May) to 16 games over by season end. Pretty amazing.

Who cares... Hockey season is starting! Go Wings!Just kidding... I guess I should be pulling for the White Sox since I'm close to Chicago, but the Cards look the best right now, so the Cards get my vote.

Are you thinking they'll be worn out after their series?

My Dad is a Red Sock fan til death. and there is no changin his mind on that.

well, if you're confident y'all are gonna win, place a bet. the odds are probably tremendous, so you could win a fortune! i predict this series to be over in 3 i mean, come on, the cardinals, eliminated by the padres, in the FIRST round?

Well, the Astros took game one...more like the Braves gave game one... final score 10-5.A total of 10 pitchers were used in this rollicking romp and the Astros stranded 19 runners. Amazing that they got away with it.

(in all seriousness)losing a game as a cardinals fan for the past 2 years has been really hard to take. you get so used to winning, if they lose like 2 or 3 in a row, you get all freaked out and pissed.

The Pirates haven't even been good since 1991.

They go out and buy themselves most of their players. I also hate Boston. However, the A's have been my team since back in the day of the "Bash Brothers" With Terry Steinbach behind the plate, Walt Weiss, Dennis Eckersly, and of course, Canseco and McGuire (before the juice).

Speaking of new stadium, is it true they're gonna sell off pieces of Busch Stadium for charity? Trying to remember where I heard that (had to do with them knocking it down instead of blowing it up...that would have been cool)

White Sox swept the Red Sox in clutch manner. When the BoSox had bases loaded with no one out and then blew it, you knew it was over.

Astros win in 18 innings! Wow, what a game! I watched the first three innings at lunch in San Antonio, then listened to it all the way to Houston (thanks to XM PlayByPlay) and still caught the finish at home!Whodathunk...five home runs...two of them grand slams. All but two of Houston's players participated. Roger Clemens pinch hits for the first time in his career and gets a win as a reliever!I was exhausted and thrilled! Those fans in Houston got two games worth and then some. I may reconsider changing my vote in the next poll for the League Championships...

Here's the story that no one has covered yet:Who was that guy in the Landry's Crawford boxes who caught both the Berkman grand slam ball AND the Burke home run ball?!! What are the odds of that?I wonder what those balls would fetch at auction?EDIT: I just found out about the fan in the Houston Chronicle:The guy's name is Shaun Dean (Porter, TX) and he got the tix from a client. He's giving Burke his homerun ball back. Don't know about the other one. Here's the article online:

He caught both of their balls. He he he.I left for a movie and then dinner at the end of the 9th inning of that game and when I got back it was still on!!! At first I thought they were just reshowing it or somehting then I noticed the 17th inning at the top of the screen. Stupid Farnsworth, just throw your damn fastball and leave the sliders to the big kids.

Gotta remember, they were up 6-1 at the time of the grand slam by Berkman, so it wasn't that urgent.--------------------------Well, the Angels finally finished off the salary-laden Yankees and hopped on a red-eye for Chicago. They might be running on fumes, but then again, there might be a little adrenalin to offset it.So, the two teams in the ALCS didn't even get votes in our poll...one of them's going to the World Series...A new poll will be going up shortly....
