So everyone who read my thread on "what bulb is it" knows I've been trying to locate a replacement bulb for the light on the front ceiling by the sunroof controls. Well, I'm going to the dealer tomorrow for other shtuff, so I'll hae them swap it out. But check this. I took a closer look today at the bulb itself, and it burned out really strangely. Instead of just being dead or black, it's got a black stripe in the middle and white swirls around it. Check out the pics below. Has ANYONE ever seen a bulb burn out like this? Quite bizarre. I just found it rather interesting!

I have seen this happen. A light bulb is in a vacumm. If any air gets in it will burn up the fiiiment very quickly and leave a film on the inside of the glass. This looks like what has happened to your bulb. Air leaked in.

Yeah, I've seen bulbs burn out similar to this before. I think Admin's right about losing the vacuum inside the bulb. Probably just a manufacturer's defect.

Looks like a cool, gaseous planet.
