New Vibe with a interesting twist.

We just got home with or new 05 Salsa base Vibe. We got a great deal. We wanted to have the possibility to be able to flat tow our Vibe behind our motorhome so we had to have a 5 speed manual Vibe. This one has the 5 speed manual, M&T, power group, XM, security system, ABS, exhaust tip, 16" aluminum wheels and the sports package minus the two wings. The sports package was dealer installed and for some reason the dealer installed black ground effects on a Salsa car. Not sure if they thought it was going to be cool or what but it just looked wrong. The dealer was unable to sell this vehicle for 11 months because of their poor choice. When I went to look at it they first of course was asking full price ($22845) minus the rebates. Finally they got to the point of admitting that the car was messed up and dropped the prices to $20,845 minus rebates and I got them to $16,600. I do a lot of custom car work so I knew the ground effects were not big deal for me to get right. One hour after having the car home I had the ground effects off so at least I can drive a normal looking Vibe. Now I can either sell the ground effects or get them painted to the correct color. Anyway we are thrilled to have it and look forward to participating on GenViibe.

Welcome to Genvibe. Sounds like you got a very good deal. And it sounds like you are gonna fit in here just fine.

Welcome to GenVibe. Congrats on the purchase. Sounds like you got an excellent deal. You would think that the dealer would have painted the body kit to match once they found out it didn't sell. Oh, well. Their loss is your gain. Enjoy the Vibe and this site. You will get more accurate information here than at your dealer.

I think the reason they couldn't sell it is because they wanted 23k for a base Vibe My GT wasn't even that much

I was thinking about painting my cladding black on a salsa vibe, I think it would look O.K.maybe it was the price, it seemed a bit high to me too.

Yes, it had the stainless steel exhaust tip. The tip looks great with the ground effect rear panel but without it I thought it looks a bit out of place.

Ya I realized that after i posted and reread your post. No, only the tip was on the car. Sorry for no reading more carefully the first time.

Welcome to GenVibe !Those Ground Effects would look nice on my '05 Black Vibe but I couldn't afford them (especially after shipping to Canada).
