We're hunkering down. Work is shut down for the next two days so folks can get prepared or evacuate. Too late to get any reasonable distance away; the traffic north, northwest, and west is HORRIBLE!I live NW of Houston and about 75 miles due north of the estimated eye crossing point on the coast (Matagorda). I expect we'll see major loss of trees and probably a week of lost power. I'll keep posting here with news as long as possible. Thanks for the well-wishes.

Definitely keep safe! Hopefully it won't be as strong by the time it hits.

I live in Bryan, 90 miles NW of Houston and the eye is posed to pass just to the west of here meaning we'll get some pretty strong weather.

Just an update: We've gotten our families as set as we can. My wife's immediate family is staying with us;r my own immediate family is staying with my brother (about 10 miles south of me). My sis is safe in Austin, TX for now, but may take in my mom if it gets nasty in the aftermath.I'd hoped to hear from more of the Houston members; hope they've made it out OK. Wish I'd taken more pictures of today's events...just surreal..Traffic jams for dozens of miles...restricted entry in Home Depot and Kroger...empty shelves everywhere...lots of closed gas stations. Awesome..in a sobering manner.

Hang in there folks... It doesn't look pleasant! Be safe, and for those who need to get out of the way of the storm, I hope that everyone can get out of the traffic jams and get moving! If there is anything any of you guys need, let us know!
