New Car - Paint Chip =(

Hi everyone.. when I purchased my 05 vibe 3 weeks ago, I noticed a chip on the roof during the predelivery inspection. Before I pickedup the car, I was able to put in the sales contract that dealer will fix paint chip professionally.I left the car with them last week to get it fixed but when I picked it up, they just polished(?) the area so it's smooth and you can't tell the difference just by feeling it with your fingers (unlike before). But you can still see the chip which is almost an outline of a circle almost the size of the eraser head of a pencile. I will try and post pics after I scan them later. They said if they have to fix it properly, the will have to sand it down and repaint the whole roof and they said that factory paint is better than if they have to repaint it..They have said they are willing to give me a written guarantee that if it rusts then they will repair/paint it but no terms were agreed on yet.Is the written guarantee to fix the chip at first sign of rust enough? How long should the term be for the guranttee - 6yrs (similar to GM's anti-corrosion warranty)?Rust is one thing but the fact that the paint is chipped on a brand new car is another - is it wrong for me to ask for compensation (discount) since I probably would have ask for discount had I seen the chip during negotiation - if so what do you guys think is a fair compensation?? Sorry for not having pics.. will try and post later..

I'd go to the dealer and tell him the paint was chipped before delivery and that you are not going to pay $$$ for a new car.the paint the dealer will put on will be thicker. have the paint department measure the thickness of the paint. it will be less than a mill deep. and the dealer will spray at least a mills worth of paint on it. they don't pay for it anyway they will get paid by GMjust my $.02they repainted my roof cause the paint was cracking

Have them repaint the whole roof. I had paint imperfections all over my vibe, but I didn't notice soon enough. The paint on the vibe is absolute garbage, and the only thing that makes me regret buying one.
