High idle?

Yo troops...need some info. When I first start my Vibe in the morning the rpm,s go right to 1800 rpm & stay up there for a while. They come down to 900 rpm after it is warmed up but initially it seems kinda high. I really have to be careful feathering the clutch so I do not lurch ahead from a dead stop. This is with the base motor.

Mine does this as well. I don't think it's anything to worry about. The manual states that the engine was designed to idle at higher RPMs when started, but will return to normal shortly thereafter. I think it starts high to get the ULEV system going.
