Squeak/Chirp from stop?

Here's what we've been noticing. When the AC is on, and only when accelerating from a dead stop, there's a slight squeak coming from the engine bay, that doesn't even last one second. At first, I thought the serp. belt needed to be adjusted, but when they checked it while changing the oil today, they said the belt was fine, and thought it could be the motor mounts. They didn't have time to look everything over more closely, so I thought I'd check here before having a dealer take a closer look. We trust the mechanic who does our oil changes, but it seems very early in our Vibe's live (38,000 miles) to be having motor mount trouble.Any thoughts?

Well, took it to the dealer. Bad serp belt tensioner. $337.88 installed. (Extended warranty covered it) 236.62 for the tensioner. (wonder how much that same part would have been if I'd gone to a Toyota dealer) Not that it bothers me, as long as it's under warranty.

Hmm, now that you mention it. After A/C compressor #3 was installed on my car, I began noticing something similar. It's only after the car has been sitting for a while, and it's more "vocal" when the temps are cooler or the air is very humid. I get some sort of squeal that comes from that area somewhere the first couple times I accelerate from a dead stop. There's also some other noises in the vicinity, so it's really difficult to keep track of what's making what noise. The tensioner may be worth looking into in my case...That definitely isn't cheap at all! Glad the warranty took care of it. Those things can be a lifesaver, I know I value my GMPP dearly.

I guess the reason it was only making the sound with the AC on was the added load of the AC was making the belt slip when you'd accelerate from a stop. That's what I thought was happening.
