http://www.wdbj7.com/Global/st...ieI78Quote »September 8, 2005Police say gas theft led to chase of suspect Suspect in gas theft leads police on high speed chase A man reportedly running from Lynchburg police wrecked his car, all allegedly for $40 in gas.Officers say the driver of a Pontiac Vibe drove off from a gas pump in Lynchburg without paying. Lynchburg police then chased the vehicle. After speeds reached 105 miles-per-hour, officers broke off the pursuit. Minutes later, authorities say, the same Pontiac Vibe wrecked on Route 460 in Bedford County. The driver then used a bicycle in the back of his vehicle to ride another half-mile down the road before he was picked up. His name has not been released. If this was a member here, (removed) were you thinking?web site has a link to news coverage video, but I can't get it to load on my PC The fact that the owner had a bike in the back speaks to the utility of these vehicles, but since fleeing on bike after wrecking the car didn't work (police still caught him), I doubt GM will use the convenience of a carrying a bike to elude police in their advertising

Not to mention the fact that he stole the $40 in gas only to turn around and use an inordinate amount of it going 105 mph running from the police...

And then I clarified that it must be a "he" that was in the wreck. Someone mentioned "he" or "she" so I just wanted to clarify that it must be a "he" that wrecked the Vibe since they specified that in the article. I'm still confused, are you

If I worked at at gas station, I'd make everyone that doen't use pay at the pump to pay first. it's a pain, but you won't have drive aways like this dumbazz. Instead of $40 in gas, he has to fix the car, prolly get a ticket and record for evasion and maybe even theft. not too bright.

I just thought of something... Perhaps someone had their Vibe stolen? If someone would actually do that much damage to their car, their finances, their criminal record over 40 stinkin' bucks, ugh... Let me just say, I hope that Vibe was stolen and it wasn't the owner that did all that crap. Was that a GT? I filled my base up for $36 yesterday.

I can't even fit $40 of gas in my Vibe. At $3.00 a gallon that comes out to 13.33 gallons... aledgedly our Vibes only have a 13 gallon tank, but even at that I've never been able to put in more than 12 gallons before the pump auto-shuts off. He musta been coasting on fumes before the fill up if he was able to put in $40 worth of gas. He obviously didn't heed the evil yellow low fuel light in a timely manner, and drove around with it taunting him for quite some time... that must have driven him insane, hence, resulting in his erratic behavior....or...,maybe he's just an (removed)!

I'm pretty sure that guy now realizes that it would have been worth it to pay the $40 for gas than the hundreds or even thousands it's going to cost to fix his car!
