So my mom and I are designing a cover for the armrest so it has some padding in it so when driving anywhere over 20 min it doesnt kill your elbow . Does anyone have some suggestions on what kind of fabric we should get to test out? If they are awesome enough I'll get more made if anyone wants to buy some.

Leather would be nice, more difficult to work with though. I have had good luck using denim for these kinds of projects, it is easy to use and wears nicely. You can find just about any color too.

how about a microfibre ?

that soft fuzzy stuff that they use on those teddy bears we all touch and rub on our faces in the baby section when no ones looking.or that just me???he...he..

Something softer would be nice... my elbow hurts after driving my car for a little while too.

Matching the OEM seat fabric (graphite or charcoal) would be nice.

yea id like to get the oem fabric, but thats prolly like a 1% chance of aquiring unless someone has connections. looks like ill have to drop by the fabric store in duluth sometime. I would like at least the color to match, but be soft on the elbow, like charmin tp

do you know what type of padding you will use? I suggest something like a rubber type foam so it will not lose its form quiuckly, and its easy to cut and form.

How about that gel material they put in those "ergonomically correct" mousepads/keyboards? That would be quite comforting. Just have to figure out a material for the top cover.

Why not just use the Charmin? That would be very economical!

jeeez everyone is so picky!! hmm ill have to hunt around for the material, the gel from a mouse pad/ wrist rest would be pretty sweet...but i think thats molded to their needs. if anyone finds the stuff let me know, my mom should have a mock up pretty soon here, so when i go home ill be fitting it later this month. man try driving with out a arm rest for 3 weeks, totally sucks!

some shape cut foam under good quality leather would look good as be confortable. easy to clean. micro fiber is ok, but tends to catch dirt and need constant wet wipes. (i have micro fiber sectional)since on the subject. why not match some leather on the door cushion.

You're going about this solution from the wrong angle...instead of covering your armrest in fabric, maybe you should cover your right elbow with one of those Barry Bonds-style elbow protectors. Think about how cool this would look: Your Vibe is decked out in the finest Walmart aftermarket gear...you've got Sammy Hagar blaring through the tunes package...and the when the light goes green you drop the clutch, slam the shifter forward and raise your futuristic elbow protector in the air declaring victory over the short bus beside you!Plus: I bet an elbow protector takes Armor All real goodly!

I like that elbow pad idea. Plus, when it gets cold and you wear a sweater or long sleeve shirt, you can put it on under same and no one will even notice it. Good stuff!!!!

Hey then you could wear one on each arm cuz the left side hurts too!

Shag carpet!actually it doesn't bother my elbows... those are tough from sitting at a desk with arm rests all day.show the finished product though

ill be going home for a dentist appointment...yah...not.. this week tues or thurs and my mom said she would have the mock up done by then....ill try to get some pics. i still gotta find the material for the padding thing.

find somebody with aftermarket leather seats and buy thier seat fabric like i did.
