Painted my grills

Post by chengabmx »

I painted my grills last weekend. Sry for the delay on the post, but I'm lazy. lol It's not a big difference, but I couldn't stand that chrome trim. I think it turned out really good.

The 05 front end is SO much less offensive without that chrome.

Looks great. Watch this be an option on the next model year...they could call it "the monotone grill package" and charge extra.

Did you remove it all together from the front end or is it in pieces?I actually washed my car the day before I took the pictures, but it rained on my way to work the next morning. So, my car got dirty and I didn't feel like washing it again. Now, to answer your questions. I just took the grills out of the front end and spray painted them. I didn't use primer or anything. I found some spray paint that is actually for plastic. It's called Krylon Fusion. The hardest part is trying to get enough paint INSIDE the holes, but not getting too much on the front so it doesn't run. I just did a couple of light coats.

I hit a mailbox. lol I took off the license plate to try to straighten it cuz it got a little bent up. You can see the dent in the hood where the mailbox hit it.

Doesn't look like it's coming off to me...looks like it's got muddy water spots on it. Anyway, I like it, think it looks a lot better than the chrome.

Issues with sentence structure aside, I'm still confused here.Ok, "dude that looks dumb as hell" begins the post, yet near the end, that same "dumb as hell" idea is called a "good idea?" I'm so confused!Do you like it, or do you dislike it?

I think it looks good. It gives it a cleaner look as it matches the outer rim. I like the '03/'04 front end better IMO

Perhaps "dumb as hell" is a new type of compliment, sort of like something being described as being "the sh*t"....
