Upon a post in another thread, I got to thinking about something I noticed with my car... At night, intermittently the air bag light will glow faintly. When the ignition is switched to on, the indicator is on full brightness as to be expected for a few seconds, then goes out. Or, does it?If you look hard enough, you may see that it's on. It may be hard to notice if you don't know what you're looking for, but it is there. I've ruled out any sort of illumination bleeding over from another spot:Started the car with my automatic light control disable switch turned off to kill the automatic headlights. (thus, no green 'lights on' light.) No indicators were on. Switched the parking lights on, but the interior illumination control was all the way down so the cluster itself was dark. The only thing that was illuminated in the cluster was that damn air bag indicator. Barely visible, but with everything out, you COULD see that it was on.Drove down the street like that, adjusted the brightness of the gauges, nothing changed. The intensity of the indicator still remained constant.Parked the car, went into the store. On the return trip to work, I did the above steps, yet the cluster was completely, totally black. Nothing visible. That leads me to believe that there certainly is some condition that comes and goes...Can you guys try to fire up your Vibes at night (set the parking brake first) and turn the illumination all the way down and see if your air bag light (or anything else on the cluster for that matter) is visible?I don't know if I have a problem with the cluster itself or the air bag system, the thought of either one is ticking me off about right now. More so with the air bag deal, that's kinda got the possibility to inflict personal injury if something malfunctions. I'd rather not have that. At least I'd get a new windshield out of the deal, I really need to replace that horribly sandblasted piece of glass. I haven't been able to get any good direct hits with rocks yet to give me a good chip but I'll bet an inadvertant air bag deployment will do the trick for me... This is going to be impossible to get fixed, I seriously doubt whatever condition that is causing this is setting a code seeing that the light only fully illuminates when it should be doing so. ANd like the dealer will be willing to look close enough to see the stupid thing on anyway. Oh well, I haven't died yet, and this piece of junk has been doing it for at least several months now, so maybe I'll just leave it. hehBut it is something to think about..... Or am I just being too damn (removed) and need to not even worry about it?

Whew! At least (a) my car isn't completely dysfunctional and (b) I'm not smoking crack. I guess now, what's doing it? Maybe this is "normal." lol!Leave it to me to discover something as minute as this. heh
