Snow packed in wheels on AWD

I'm sure this has been discussed somwhere but I was unable to find it in any previous post. Not only that, I realize it's only Sept. However, does anyone find that their wheels get packed with snow easily in the winter? If so, I suspect it affects the handling. Will it cause any damage to the suspension or drivetrain components if I don't unpack the snow from the wheels immeadiately? Thanks.

I had snow that was blown into my old stock 17's. It rode fine until I hit the freeway. I had to clean them out right away. rode like a circus clown bike. you know the ones with tires that are off center.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me with the 17's on my old Vibe; all I had to do was knock it out with my little scraper deal. I don't think you're going to have any problems, but I don't know. I'm going to just try to avoid driving in the snow this winter, or taking my mom's Trailblazer, because I really don't feel like buying Z-rated snow tires

Perhaps my it'll only become an issue in deep snow. I agree with you that its nice to keep your car in the garage during the winter. That's what I tend to do with my Toyota pickup. (even though it's 4WD) But the reason why I went with an AWD was not so I can park it in the garage when it snows. Guess I'll find a a few months.

with around town stuff the heating from the brakes and tires should melt any snow pack in the wheels..Only had my vibe for one wisconsin winter so far and i didnt have any issues at alljust make sure you give the wheels a good washing to remove the salt and dirt and stuff that can be left behind that may affect the wheel balance amoung other problems that are prone to salt.

I've never had an issue myself to the point it caused a vibration from changing the balance of my tires. But I have had snow in there before and a lot of snow caked in my wheel wells... I hate that.
