I call that a "parts Vibe!"

Perhaps not good for that particular Vibe, but if people rent it and like it that might nudge up the demand for Vibes and increase the value for yours. Calling the Vibe an intermediate SUV seems to be a ploy to get a higher dairy rental rate. I think the reason you will not find a lot of Vibes in rental fleets is that the rental companies tend to buy slow moving cars at huge discoutns (discounts that would make the empoyee pricing look like retail).

Enterprise has had Vibes since at least March of last year.. And I would second the thought that it may drive up demand. Not a lot of people are familiar with the cars..and having a rental might give the Vibe more attention..

It is also a great way to "TESTDRIVE" the vehicle for a full day, week or whatever before you decide to "buy"!!!! I have done this several times before I actually "bought' a vehicle. It certainly helps you find out if you feel comfortable, like the feel of it, like the layout of the guages; good seating" position, etc., etc.

Keep them unknown. I hate that I'm seeing Vibes pop up everywhere. When I had my car it was only my Vibe and 2 others in my town and when I went to pre-op friday night I saw 6 at one intersection. So much for the car being unique.

Keep them unknown? My dealer is doing a good enough job at that... They flat out stopped stocking Vibes, period. Can't blame 'em though, they can't sell the damn things. No sense in trying to put something on your lot if it's just going to sit there for 6+ months and not even going to be test driven! Nobody here wants one, the locals probably see the trouble that I have with mine and say "hell no!" I helped kill the Vibe sales around here, heh.

I actually bought my vibe from Hertz car rental sales. It was nice because they have all the records and dont sell ones that have problems, its also no haggle so it was the cheapest price in the state

Also, you can save a potload of money on a 'used' rental car. Expect $7~10k off sticker on a 9~12 month old car with mileage in the 20K range.

Yea mine was a 2004 base with almost every option but moon and tunes, 26k miles for like $12,500.

As long as the Vibe doesn't reach proportions of the last-gen Malibu for rental car sales, I think the Vibe is a safe rental. Kinda like how Chevy had to keep building the last gen Malibu, coining it the 'Chevrolet Classic' when they rolled out the current generation Malibu... They had to keep the rental companies from buying up the new generation and killing the new car's value as they did the last gen, so they continued to give the rental guys a piece of crap that they can keep buying. heh

HAHAHA and i saw all those "classics" at hertz for sale, of course with the 4banger engine (to slow for my taste with that big of a car). But I can see how rental places could do this when they buy huge fleets of cars. But atleast i got a cheaper vibe

I have seen several vibes for sale on the thrifty rental used car lot in my town. I bought a rental car once years ago, turned into the biggest pile of crap I ever owned! never again!

Remember; Rental cars can do things that normal cars can't. Ineed a smiley with a cape.

You can get extended warranty on most cars, and if you buy it from a GM dealer as a certified used car, you can get GMPP major guard on almost any car.

That's the only way I could afford something like the G6, and many other cars. Instead of wanting to buy new again, I should probably wait until what I'm looking for to come on the used car market and go that route. And to be honest with you, I'd rather take a rental over any other used vehicle that just shows up on the used lot unless I was absolutely sure I knew where it was coming from. Sure, that rental may have had the (removed) driven out of it a time or two by someone, there's no denying that. Hell, my car that I bought new has suffered from that a time or two, almost all of our cars have. But at least with a rental, there is a better chance of the car actaully getting crap like oil changes and other routine maintenance performed when it needs it. Not when joe blow decides to do it, feels like doing it, remembers to do it, or even knew about doing it in the first place, etc...

How is buying a rental almost any different than buying any used car with 2Xk miles on it?1. the rental place HAS to do the scheduled maintenance on it.2. Anyone with any car can beat on the thing, specially if its a personal sale they know they are selling it.3. hertz only rents cars to ppl 25yrs or older.4. who honestly will rent a vibe and beat on it? its not a sports car, they'd rent the mustang or impala for "speeding/racing". 5. your buying it with warrantly still left on it 6. its one of the cheapest prices around!believe me i was thinking the same thing about people beating on it, but thats kids usually not older people renting cars to drive for business or vacation trips. also like i said they do some inspection before hand, they have to have no damage (frame wise) to sell and all the repairs/mainentance is kept and shown to the buyer. great deal.
