Vibe Aftermarket R&D Review - e3 Spark Plugs

I these times of higher gas prices I have been looking for way to increase gas mileage and get more power. I have already installed the Helix Power Tower Plus Throttle Body Spacer. Here is the link for that: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=17744I have just received my e3 Spark Plugs. I will be installing them this weekend and will give a full report after I have tested them out. They claim to give more power, better gas mileage, reduced emissions and longer engine life. They come with a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. I know that the spark plugs we have already are one of the best ones we can have for the Vibe so you don't need to tell me that. I am just always trying to find something better. Here is the link for the e3 web site: http://www.e3sparkplugs.comThe ones for the Vibe are part# E3.56FIRST IMPRESSIONS:Here is the box they came in:The metal used is definitely of lower quality than the NGK Iridium IX Plugs I took out. It looks more like just a cheap chrome plating:The threads at the end looked kind of chewed up, but no problems with the install:The electrode on three of the four plugs was off center. It's hard to tell but the electrode on the left is dead center and the one on the right is off to the right. The third one is off to the right. the fourth one is off to the bottom. I don't know how this will affect performance but ti seems to me that having them all dead center would provide the best performance and longest plug life:The install went well. I have it down to 10 minutes total from start to finish. One minute for the cover on and off and two minutes to replace each plug. It is raining in biblical proportions right now so I will test drive it as soon as possible. More to come soon...Test Drive:After our 6" rainfall last night and up to golfball sized hail storm early this morning I was able to got for a test drive. I found that there is no change in acceleration thus far. I will wait a few days and see if anything changes and then do a gas mileage comparison test.Review:After using them for a couple weeks, I have noticed no gains in performance, but I did gain an average 2 mpg on my last three tanks of gas. So at least it did something (Rating: 3.5 stars out of 5)

I agree BlueCrush, they seem cheap from your discription :/ well report back your findings after a week or so. What do you recommend otherwise for good plugs?

The stock plugs are one of the best you can have for the vibe.

Don't you think that if a different spark plug (probably would cost GM no or little more than the plugs they are now using) would boost the mpg that GM would not be using them? From the decsription here - cheap looking, off center electrodes - I'd bet they are just another rip off.

I did get a performance increase from Denso Iridium Power plugs on my GT but the mileage didn't vary. It probably didn't increase peak power #s but felt stronger in the lower ranges. No braging rights. They also don't last as long and cost more so I can understand them not being OEM parts.

the bosch platinum plus 4's are the best non race plugs you can get for any car. according to mag reviews I've read in the past.

It's absolutely the strongest spark available in a plug only change.

So Brian, by reading your test results, am I correct in reading that you gas up 3 times a week? You mentioned that you've had them installed for a week, and you've noticed slightly better gas mileage in the last three fill-ups. Or am I being completely blonde?

Hi Blondie! Ha,Ha! I installed them on 9/2 and wrote up my final review on 9/18. So 16 days. I wouldn't be able to afford to fill up 3 times a week. There was a typo on the review it should say a couple weeks not one.

Blonde AND not so good at the math!! Ok, that makes more sense! I get gas every 2 weeks or so, and I was just wondering just how much driving you DO up there! But nevermind!
