Where's the tstat located? Is it hard to change/replace? What is the factory tstat open temp? Has any body changed to a lower than factory tstat? Thanks.

I don't know what the factory thermostat is rated at, but the thermostat is on the engine side of the lower radiator hose, up behind the alternator.in
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=16307, johnsoax had a problem with a low coolant temp CEL, so if you change it out to run significantly cooler, you may throw a CEL

Thanks a bunch for the response, I really appreciate it. I never would have thought to check the engine end of the lower radiator hose for the tstat. I'm new to the Vibe and really like it, but have only worked on small block Chevys where the tstat is on the engine end of the upper radiator hose. Thanks again and this really a great site.

Most stock parts are rated at 190 degrees... You will need to drain the coolant and remove the hose. Be sure to install the new stat with the bleeder valve upward.

Thanks for the tip, I really appreciate it. Other than the electrical connections, are there just two bolts holding the alternator on so it could be removed to get at the tstat housing? Thanks.

I have the GM service manual procedure in front of me now for the alternator removal and entire procedure. I can certainly fax it to you...Otherwise, I have not done this procedure yet, I will be in the fall though. Looks normal after the alt is out of the way.
