Yep, Air Force 1! The president was giving his speech in a hangar right outside my building on Naval Air Station North Island this morning. I could have gone but chose instead to sleep in and get off late! Sorry for the lousy quality, but I didn't have my digicam so I had to make due with my cell phone cam, and since I wasn't supposed to be taking pics anyways, well everyone else was too, but I took it from inside my office at work.

Yeah, the base was a mess today! Motocops all over the place, base police were everywhere, roads and the flightline were blocked off by semis, all kinds of stuff!

Hey I was at that event too! For those that don't know, the President came to Naval Station North Island today to give a speech and to commemorate V-J day. There were WWII Veterans and over 3,000 sailors, a bunch of marines and media and security, not to mention secret service, everywhere!I didn't know that he came via Air Force One! I know that the presidential motorcade came onto our pier and drove right by our ship then ended up on the other pier which was set up for the event.I was debating at first whether I should go or not since I had just gotten off a 12 hour shift but I ended up going in the end because I asked myself "when am I going to get another chance to see the President?" It was worth every bit of waiting 4 hours! I got to talk to one of the secret service agents as he came over to the gate we were guarding and stood watch with us. I was asking him all sorts of questions but he was nice about it.In the end it made me feel proud to be serving our country. Just watching the Veterans and the sea of white (sailors I mean) made me forget about all the BS and long working hours that come along with the job. Well that's it. Just thought I'd share!

Good choice. I would rather take a nap than go hear the Prez stumble and bumble his way through a speech any day of the week.
