I just got quotes from 3 dealers in town to install 2-way LED remote starters. Two carry AstroStart (model 2205) and the other carries Viper (model 571XV). I've received different answers from all three regarding the number of modules needed for a 2004 Vibe. The Viper dealer said that I need two modules at $50/ea while one AstroStart dealer said I needed one and the other said I didn't need any. I double checked with each one and their answers remainded the same. Does anyone on this board have experience installing either model? Obviously I don't want to waste $50-$100 if I don't have to.Thanks,Dave

No extra modules for the Vibe. There is no passlock in the key, the door locks are standard negative-pulse just like a Toyota.I personally like Vipers, and have one on my own Vibe. I installed it as well, as I used to work at Circuit City.

And the final question - was it worth it?

i had mine installed by bestbuy, but just to have the remote in our cold (removed) wisconsin winters is worth many hours of labor. i can walk up to a window 15 mintues before i get out of work, push a button, and start my car. very little scraping while my coworkers are scraping and cussing.

If you choose a Viper, it has to be installed by a certified installer. Otherwise, your warranty is null and void. Jahntassa is one, so he was able to do his own. If you go with any other brand, you can likely do it yourself. It takes time, but can be done.

I was a tech for Hyundai several years back, and we installed remote starters, I have found the AstroStart Units to be superior in Quality compared to the Vipers.There are too much Hype in Viper products. their good ones are their 2 ways. but those can get pretty expensive.

I have installed 2 of them. One in an '89 Dodge Rraider and one in a Toyota Camry. Both were pretty straight forward. but, I will admit that cutting that ignition wire the first time can be a little scary. Most of them come with installation videos now.
