It is available in my region and I know a lot of people who have this service and they are very satisfied with it.I'm considering switching over them, but since I do not pay for the standard cable (it was working when I bought the house and still working for more the 1 year), it will be worthless for me.But as soon as the standard cable goes disconected, I switch for both services, cable (Illico) and telephone and kicks Bell out.

Videotron is the only VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol) provider who has a battery back up in the modem. Also, you don't have to get high speed internet to have it.With the other VoIP provide (Bell, Primus, Rogers) you must get the high speed internet first. Plus, Videotron is the only provider who has a battery back up in case of pawer faillure. None of the other provider have a battery pack in he modem to make it working during power faillure.Plus, with regular telephone service, yes it works during power outage, but they run over battery back up too in the central office. So if the power faillure is too long (more then 10 hours) your standard telephone service will fail as well, unless they put a generator in the c.o.

That's pretty cool - a IPT Terminal with a battery backup from the company. Slick!Verizon was running fiber to the house and their box had a battery backup for telephony service - nice idea, and I think there may be a regulation or two for the telecoms by our feds that make it that way so the house will have dial tone no matter what.

''Videotron Selects ARRIS Telephony Modems for Large-Scale VoIP Videotron, Canada's third largest MSO, has selected ARRIS as one of its VoIP modem suppliers. Videotron has placed a substantial initial order for ARRIS DOCSIS 2.0-certified Touchstone Telephony Modem indoor E-MTAs. These E-MTAs will be used to address the customer premises side of Videotron's large-scale VoIP telephony deployment based on PacketCable standards.''Anyone have experience a arrise modem in the past?
