Rail Removal for Painting

I am thinking about having the roof rack bars powder coated black. Silver bars were a poor design choice by Pontiac. How do you get them off? There are good posts on how to get the rear cover off for removing the cross bars. However, what would be the next step? I don't want to take the headliner or trim inside off if possible, in other words minimize dis-assembly. As a side question, has anyone removed the grill on a 2005. I am thinking about painting that black also.

Remove crossbars if necessary.Remove endcaps from both ends of each rail (4 total).Remove 4 bolts (per rail), at each end, that secure rails to roof (will be under caps you just removed).Disengage 3 plastic retainers found towards the middle of the rail.Repeat for other rail.
